We were very privileged to have the incredible ROBIN ZIELHORST, bassist for Our Oceans, Onegodless & Exivious play on our new album URN. This month he has been kind enough to make himself available to do the Ne Obluminati feature interview so that you can ask him any questions you have about working with NeO on URN, his work with a variety of other bands, or anything else that you are curious to know!

What was it liking knowing that you had to fill Cygnus' shoes, having to live up to his amazing bass work? I personally think you nailed it from what I've heard so far!

Reece Fraser

What advice would you give to someone whos just beginning to pick up playing bass, any common bad practices to avoid?

Val

Hello! The basslines on the songs we got to hear are amazing, I really love your style. How did you discover NeO for the first time ?

How do you approach going into a recording session as a hired gun as opposed to being a band member?

João Eiras

Hi Robin. So, how did the process of being invited to participate in the album came about ? And how does it feel like playing in a record where the bass is not drowned away under the other instruments ? :p PS: thank you so much for your contribution, you're awesome :)

Hi, Robin! Excellent job on the new songs. What albums influenced your playing style the most?

Dina

Hey Robin, you sound really amazing on the new material! Which is your favorite song on the album?

Tina

How do you know NeO? Did you meet them somewhere before? Do you have a common acquaintance? And do you think you'll go and see them on tour? Would be cool to have you on stage as a guest in one town. :)

Should we expect the same complexity on this album as on the ones before?

Poffertjes or stroopwafels? Uhh, alright for real now! What was the most fun part & most difficult part of creating Urn with Ne Obliviscaris?

Anonymous

Did you find the writing process easier for this album than your work in Exivious? Could you see yourself touring with the band in the future? Also, bass-wise, what was your favorite song to work with on Urn?

Cormac Jordan

What are your tips for creating a good bass sound? (Particularly with distortion). At the minute I'm using Kemper profiles of Sansamp/Darkglass.

Tina

No no no ... the first question is far more important !!!!! *drool*
