New Goals here on Patreon.

Love the idea of super special giveaways at certain milestones. I got crazy excited hearing about the Intra Venus helm! One idea I had is perhaps a "custom" tattoo design from Xen for one of the raffles?

Andrew Jantas

Sarabande to Nihil and Hiraeth songs get played live.

Ne Obliviscaris

How do we do that in a way that benefits everyone? Do a one off show and film it for everyone on Patreon? Do a studio video performance that we stream and upload?

Andrew Jantas

Or just vote on songs from it and add them to the set list to the next tour so everyone can see it. I really want Felo de Se but I know Matt can’t trem that fast for that long lol.

Crystal Dunaway

Definitely great ideas Tim!!! Like the idea of more access to all members. Always enjoy behind the scenes and live footage as well...maybe make a mix of both into a dvd if possible! Giveaways are fun too!!!

Kyle McMullan

I like the ideas, and for the $15,000 milestone id also suggest a handful of shows where the Ne Obluminati get free tickets, but can donate however much they feel the tickets are worth directly to the band. I know logistically that could be very difficult but an idea nonetheless. I also have a thought about boosting your income. Im not suggesting there's no reason you currently have set pay levels ($5, $25, $75 etc) and you likely have thought of this. But if you were to incentivise every extra dollar that people commit to, such as having the set rewards for $25, but also an extra something for paying $27 instead, you could get rid of a lot of the 'no-mans land' areas. I mean that as in it's potentially a very big commitment to jump from $25 to $50, but if the 100 or whatever people that are currently at $25 all decided on paying $30, thats an extra $500 a month. And you have almost 1000 patrons so this could potentially increase you're income on the scale of thousands. Just a thought.

Ne Obliviscaris

That's a good idea. Can you think of any way we could create incentives for people to increase slightly their pledge beyond simply asking nicely? :) - Tim

Øyvin Stensdal

This got me really excited! Did you mean from the video that you were giving away the EP digitally now In May? April? And how would we go about acquiring it if so? And I don't know about others, but I can tell you that I am really up for vinyls of the exclusive EP's! Keep up the great work, you're really deserving of the patrons.

Tina

Both good! 😎

Tina

Last time we simply got a dropbox link by email ...

Øyvin Stensdal

Have we gotten one now? Or do you think he meant for May? I really don't want to miss out on the digital goods😅

Tina

I think he meant May.... maybe ask in the live Q&A today? 🤔 Last time the link was active for quite a while, really hard to miss.

Øyvin Stensdal

Ah yeah. I would but... Only a $10 until I can afford more :/

Tina

Hey! All sounds good! But, to be honest, nothing that appeals to me (got the EPs, no interest in Vinyls, don't want an acoustic EP, don't need or want free tickets ...). I already have and get all I want and I doubt I can chip in any more than I already do. Artwork would be cool, like a calendar. Or jewelry as special merch. P.S. I think whatever you offer should be something to RECRUIT MORE NEW PEOPLE and less to make the existing ones give more, means more promotion for the Patreon itself.

Christoph Klein

Hey Tim, et al., well, I think it is good to boost the possibilities you have through Patreon. However, People are different and so are your Patreons. As for me, I don't need any extra stuff, I am fine with being in touch with you, knowing, I can help and getting the chance to meet you every now and then, when you are "in the area"... :-) Biut of course many (ypounger?!) fans may love certain goodies ane be attracted. Being one of your Patreons form the very beginning, one things I always was wondering was, why you are not honoring long time Memberships (at least on higher levels)?! I am not siure, if it makes sense to have People upgrade to a higher level for one month and having the same benefits then someone, who has been staying (and paying) there for years...

Christoph Klein

...just a thought though... maybe incentives for long time Patreon members might help keeping People pn board for a longer tme on higher levels.. Best wishes to all and hope to see you soon!

Tina

Excellent point (not that *I* could complain). Some rewards are already linked to being on a certain level for a certain time, but yeah, incentives to stay on a certain level for longer (aside from the internal wish of the Patron to do that) would be good.

Eric Heinke

Hey Tim, like see another limited Vynal edition. Like the new ideas, it would be cool to giveaway a traveling package. Since Xen does Artwork it would be cool to have a limited edition sign for the members. Xen is a great artist!! I do not have any of the EP be cool to have. For the next album hand number Vynal and CD or both with exclusive songs for the Patreon members only. The next album have one or 2 bonus songs to the Public. Looking forward to the next album!! All of the ideas are great, Eric

João Eiras

Hi Tim. I'm an old timer here so I have some comments. These are not for me personally, but me thinking out loud how the campaign can be improved for everyone. * if you are giving lower tiers VIP access, you need to justify why people would pay for the higher tiers. VIP access is IMO one of the best unique perks of the whole patreon campaign. * you cannot make any new releases, not CD, not vinyl, of the old EPs. That was a clear promise from your pozzible campaign. * Acoustic EP, yes please! But please include Xen and include a real drum kit. There are plenty of folk/ambient black that mix those and it works great. Example: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkH6PjCfYNM" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkH6PjCfYNM</a> * What more can you share/give ? For the level of income you aspire with the campaign, the campaign should be more active, with at least weekly content: rehersals, tour vlogging, some daily vlogging, more live QAs/chats (every other week) with other band members, interviews with other bands/people (e.g. Ihsahn and Jari), more merch options. If you want to keep your patreon supporters engaged, it is essential that they get something to checkout often. I understand you have your hands full with managing the band and all your other stuff. So perhaps you could get some help to help prepare content. * and perhaps one of the most important things to keep your supporters engaged is to create and support a community of people that interact. In that regard, Patreon is not good. Facebook is much better, as people share content and discuss. So my tip for you (plural) would be to be more active on the Facebook group, and to encourage people to organize themselves when there are concerts to form a group and perhaps meet you. * you should always have flyers in every single concert that advertise the patreon page. Many people know about the band or get to know it in a concert and have no idea that you have this campaign going on. Something like "Join our patreon campaign... Get access to... *Greet&meet, sound check" and a QR code that links to this page. * some reward levels promise a merch item ever 6 months but I think you have not been following up through that one. But it is not so interesting to get a t-shirt every 6 months, so you need to diversify a bit the merch portfolio. * And to top the membership drive, you could stream a live playthrough in the studio, play a couple songs in 30-60 minutes on the last day? I did suggest you did that when you released Urn :p Wintersun has done that <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2p9PsVD9Ho" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2p9PsVD9Ho</a> Cheers. PS: could you please share an updated schedule of your concerts in Europe this summer ? PSS: your goal should be to get more supporters, not to get the current ones to pay more.

Tina

I agree on every single one of these (except the acoustic EP). Well thought and well said.

Jake Heeter

Perhaps drop the Grand Master perk down to 175 or 150 a month but increase the members to 20?

Stephen

Text updates and or video would be nice. I much prefer to read a update than watch a video. Holds my attention far better

Johan Klovsjö

I would love an acoustic EP. To be frank, I'm here for the music. More music is good music.

Kyle McMullan

Ask really nicely? Haha No, the issue is as you say, that generating money at no cost to yourself generally relies on people's good faith. While you do have a lot of options to monetise other opportunities (Q&A videos etc), I cant think of any that would be easy to scale down to the single dollar level. The main thing that comes to mind would be if there was some way to keep track of how much money thats been pledged that hasnt gone towards the rewards (as in you pledge $26 a month and after a year its recorded that youve given $12 excess, $1 above $25 each month). This admittedly sounds really hard to keep track of for everyone, but if it were possible you could do something like %50 of that $12 can be used to buy tickets to your show or buy your next album. So say you've given $80 excess and tickets cost $40, you would essentially get given the tickets for "free". This still relies on the good will of your patrons but they do get something tangible out of it. Otherwise theres always guitar picks, drum sticks, setlist sheets etc that could come with paying varying amounts more than the milestones. Every dollar you pledge excess will result in being given a guitar pick?

Kyle McMullan

Also Sorry for the really long comments

Acoustic EP is a great idea! I see one of you big challenges as encouraging patrons to move up a tier (particularly the $5 to $10 tier). I've got some suggestions below of what might encourage me or might help new members jump onboard: Why I'm currently subscribed: - helping you out financially and allowing you to keep making music - Early access to music + digital copies - keeping up to date with the band (everything from vlogs about experience in Europe or Japan through to tour announcements) What would get me to up my pledge to higher tiers (and may encourage others to join): - more live performance videos at $10 tier (unfortunately I'm not interested in tutorials so this tier doesn't add that much for me currently) (I'd suggest adding the acoustic EP here!) - add the ability to buy signed merch through the store for Ne Obluminati (e.g. code that allows us to purchase signed CDs) - this might be a good incentive for people who havent already bought physical copies of the album. - access to a gallery of photos you guys (or photographers) take at concerts. I've seen bands grab photos of the night before on their own phones of the crowd or of another band member. If you do this, could add it to a gallery so Ne Obluminati access a memory from a concert they attend from the stage perspective. For example, the photo you guys posted in front of the crowd in Mexico to Facebook in February. If I was in the front of that crowd having that photo would be an awesome memory.

Veli-Petteri Puustinen

I like the ultimate competition on 15,000 dollars where you get flights and tickets to your show. I personally like these exclusive things whenever you're playing a gig like meet & greet etc. I'm just happy to support you guys, don't need anything extra :D

Vivia

To be honest I don’t need any benefits, I just want to help. But that’s me. For most of the other people on Patreon, they might actually want something that they find good enough for them to join or pay more. If that’s the case, the current Patreon content isn’t really interesting or active enough. Maybe you guys can work on it a bit more?

2026-10-01 06:00 New music is the main reason why I support you guys, so if you release stuff exclusive to Ne Obluminati I'd say that would make me stay, and maybe even get a higher tier again. ;) Acoustic releases and covers included! EP's are so damn awesome - they often used to gather live, covers and new songs on one non-album release, and a little bit of everything is nice! :D As for an ultimate price - like going to a NeO concert anywhere in the world - that would be pretty fucking awesome! :O Digital stuff > Physical stuff - the extra money for customs and shipping is killing us up here on the Norwegian mountains. Again - I'd want more music most of all, but hey ... music videos in the image of NeO (and especially by Xen maybe) would be beyond fantastic too.

Tina

I am not sure if this idea is economically sound... plane tickets to Australia are quite expensive... 🤔

Tina

They posted 2 things per week since the Asia tour... did 3 live chats since December... how much more active can it be...? There has been far less in the past... 🤔

Tina

... you mean graphic/animated videos with Xenour artwork (like Dark Tranquility did with Atoma using Sundin artwork)? That would be pretty cool (and most likely cheaper than real music videos, but better than staring at the album cover only).

Martin Couto

It’s a very tricky situation, in order to help the band grow you guys need more income and that might come at a cost... in terms of doing things that you guys didn’t think of doing (pressing your EPs again) or providing current/new patreons with newer items. I do feel like sometimes there’s not a lot of incentives to become a Patreon unless you’re a visually driven fan (since most of the rewards are videos/chats/Q&A). I’m super happy to support you guys and I wish I could give more in order to help the cause.

Jen J

I love the idea of an exclusive acoustic EP, I'd definitely buy that

Alejandro Mendoza

Greetings, I believe that one of the things that can bust our patreon experience is a DVD or a video release that contains different songs at different locations from one your tour. I have to say my dream is to see you live, but I live in central america not sure if you are coming someday, so the only certain way to watch you is with a video concert :)

Daniel Edwards

Some awesome ideas there Tim! Acoustic EP sounds amazing, especially if it had a physical release on vinyl. I’ve been one of those people nagging at every opportunity for Sarabande to Nihil and Hiraeth to both get a vinyl pressing so would definitely jump on the chance to buy those immediately! I would also love a live album, vinyl/CD/Blu Ray format would be great. The VIP status could also be a good idea but, personally, I don’t mind upgrading my pledge whenever you guys are playing a show I can get to. Really looking forward to seeing what happens here, and I’m sure we will start hitting those targets soon!

Daniel Edwards

I like your exclusive signed merch for Ne Obluminati idea!

Daniel Edwards

I’m always up for more vinyl! Limited edition art work from Xen would cool too.

Eva

I joined to support you, because I want you to make a living by creating beautiful music and art... and I actually forget what rewards are in my tier, because it’s more important to see you succeed (which makes me really happy every time I get something I don’t expect 🤗). But that’s just me. Other people might need more rewards, items etc, and exclusively. The Milestones are a great way of celebrating a goal, and the rewards should be Patreon only. EP‘s is a good idea, as are raffles with exclusive items such as maybe a Backdrop...?! There is a big gap in between $25 and $75 pledge. I think including one more tier at $50 would be beneficial, and maybe giving all tiers from that on upwards the M&G and Soundcheck experience. With that $50 tier people might be able to pay that monthy (instead of just upgrading for a M&G and the drop back again). I don’t think dropping the VIP status to a lower tier is good. Some things should stay exclusive. To get more new people you need not only to make them sign in, but to stay. Especially for the lower tiers you could make some content available once in a while that usually would be for higher tiers ( as you did around Christmas ) and maybe do a raffle exclusive for the lower tiers ( with setlists, picks, etc. ... next time Xen should keep that pink towel and raffle it off 😉). Idea for the lower tiers: for those who can’t afford more than up to $10 (for example), you could create a NeO Street Team. Give them flyer or other promo material that they can give out at concerts, festivals , Metal pubs etc, and reward them with some extra merch or other bonus (a NeO Street Team Shirt with an exclusive design by Xen?) I mean, promoting your favorite band and getting something special for it is a win/win situation. Promotion! You need to advertise more 😊. One thing which is easyly done is a sign at your merch booth, and also flyer. You can use it at support gigs as well as on headline tours. Here you could use your Street Team to run the Promotion, for example 😉. I don’t have much marketing experience, so I can’t think of anything else and clever there. Maybe someone else here has an idea? Merch: I really think you should add tote bags to your merch. Logo on one side, name on the other, for example. I use those on a daily basis, go shopping with my Amorphis or Tribulation bag... Would love to show a NeO bag to the world. That’s all for now. Thank you for everything, see you in a month 🎉🎉

Peter Walker

I love the idea of an acoustic EP, either live, reimagined NeO songs or even some covers. Also love the idea of the EP's getting a vinyl release, or perhaps even a physical CD release, like a 2 on 1 kind of deal at higher numbers so not to detract from The exclusivity of the original pressings....actually do everything I've suggested above and I'll buy it all....I imagine that'd be a good way to get maybe $150 extra bucks out of me 😊🤘🙏

Tina

Good ideas. Especially street team and bag. (Also, doesn't mean higher tiers couldn't or wouldn't participate in the promotion activities...)

Tina

DVD productions are very expensive. Maybe live videos for download would be possible.

Cin

100% agree on digital>physical. As much as I'd love to get merch and physical CDs, shipping, taxes and customs make it too difficult and expensive where I live.

Cin

Live videos are probably my best chance of ever seeing them play live too. I'd be fine with a live video being released every now and then while they're on tour.

Sven Bröker

Love the idea of an acoustic EP as well as the vinyl re-releases for your older EPs. Just adding the idea of NeObluminati patches as an unlockable goal.

Ne Obliviscaris

Thanks for the feedback Kyle! It's really great. Keeping track of all the extra dollars is unfortunately too tricky with 1000 people on here and no system provided by Patreon for that. Obviously asking nicely helps and many would do that knowing it will help us but if we could offer *something* to anyone that upgrades their membership that would definitely make it even better. Maybe we could create an exclusive live video and we send a link as a special thank you to all members who upgrade no matter how small? So even a $1 member upgrading to $1.50 would get it as a way of encouraging strength in numbers approach and not relying on too few members? - Tim

Ne Obliviscaris

Thanks for the feedback Tina! At present we are trying to look at both. How do we make sure the current members stay on board? And how do we entice new people to sign up? I think in the end the key to future success is doing a good job with both of these as we have had good things to entice new members that have then left when the short term perk wasn't around anymore. I think that is because we have often been focused on one or the other, but hopefully some of these adjustments can help moving forward. Thanks so much for your input! It's massively appreciated. :-) - Tim

Ne Obliviscaris

Hey Christoph! That's a great idea. I think the reason that hasn't happened in the past is that there has been too many things to track as it is, plus Patreon simply shows how long a member has been on their current level, not when they first signed up, and you have to take extra steps to check when they first signed up so it's not exactly a quick process. Maybe we could create certificates (printed or digital) to give out to members who have been members for a certain length of time and/or at a certain level? If we did that for people after 1 year or even 2 on all levels we would have to do digital certificates as otherwise it would cost thousands in postage as we have a few hundred if we counted all levels... but maybe we could do physical one's for higher level members though if you think that would be appreciated by members such as yourselves? I also like the idea of doing something to honour "Foundational" members who signed up back in March 2016 and are still members now. Any further ideas would be much appreciated! Definitely keen to do something here though! - Tim

Christoph Klein

Well, yeah, I don't mind how it is done physically, but really just from a "Revenue standpoint" for you, it must be interesting to have people staying on "higher Levels" as Long as possible, so it should be rewarding for you to value this. (Think of Frequent traveller programs by the Airlines, e.g.)... So including the length of stay on a certain Level additionally to the pure grade of Level to the "value" of a Patreon certainly makes sense for you! And if you take my example and calculate: I would certainly love to be a "Grand Master" but the monthly amount to pay is more than I can afford (being a Family father...). But paying continously on "Revered" Level sind 2016 certainly sums up to more then one or the other "Grand Master", who is there for only a few months... So, I believe, this should be reflected! I understand, technically this may not be so easy..., but there certainly will be possibilities. Maybe Patreon can help you? However: Try to keep it simple, for sure! Best wishes from Stuttgart, Germany! Christoph

Avintha Fonseka

Hi Tim, hope you’re still taking suggestions. I have a few ideas: • Lessons: For certain tiers maybe one of you could livestream a guitar/bass/drum/vocal/production/mixing/ lesson every two weeks or so. So unlike a recorded tutorial, people can ask for advice in real time. Maybe you can have one-on-one lessons for $250 members with a band member of their choice every month? • Artwork by Xen: Xen could hold a poll for a ‘theme’ each month and produce a simple artwork based on that. • Fun Contests: for example, you could give us a topic and tell us to write a very short poem about it or ask us to submit funny hand-drawn comics involving band members. Prizes could be merch or a free bump up to VIP level for a month? • Informative videos: maybe you could have a video series explaining how to manage and promote a band? How to get signed to a label? How to book tours? • Bring back ‘Cooking with NeO’ and make it a regular thing. • The STEMS were a great idea last time. Immediately got me to sign up to the $25 tier. Maybe take it one step further and offer demo recordings of the new songs? • Critique: Patreon members submit their own music, writings, artwork…etc. and you could offer constructive criticism, perhaps during a livestream. • Studio Hangouts: allow VIP members to hang out with you at the studio while you record the new album. • Pranks: Patreons members get to vote on what pranks you play on other bands during tours. In addition, I think you need to put out content more frequently than you’re doing currently.

Kyle McMullan

The only issue I see with that is it's a sort of one time thing, where the goal seems like it should be to get people to upgrade to the most they feel comfortable with, rather than just upgrading by an indiscriminate amount. But along those lines, if it were something like that but was reflective of how many times they upgraded and of how much they upgraded by, that could work well. I feel like if you incentivise a more dynamic state, where people change their pledge more freely and more often it would be more likely for people to find an equilibrium that they're comfortable pledging, rather than stagnating at a certain amount because that's the cuttoff for the level.

Sally

Oof, I'm late to reply here. I guess to make this post short and sweet; STEMS, early access to new songs, a possible acoustic EP, and I'd love to see more violin tutorials or sheet music. Don't get me wrong, all the videos on Dan playing drums is incredible, but I'd like to see some violin.

TR Sam-Sin

In all honesty the only reason I donate is because I want to support you guys. I really don't care about all the giveways, free stuff and all those things. I think the main thing you guys should focus on is building a fun community. I don't know if you have it already, but the first thing you should do is create a Discord so that it is a lot easier for NeO fans to message and connect with each other. There you can also do fun stuff like having people post (short) videos of them playing (parts of) NeO songs, or other bands or even different genres. The possibilities are endless. Also I mentioned this before, but I really think you guys should try to stream on twitch, not just for Ne Oblumunati members, but for everyone. You don't even have to play your own music, you can also play covers of other bands or even genres, and/or auction live-learns where people bid for you to play a certain song. Either way, if you stream publicly, you will probably attract a lot of people who will then subsequently support you either through stream, or through Ne Obluminati (or both).

Laurie Andrews

I just now had time to catch up on some of the videos here. Life has had a lot of surprises lately and it's been busy. I really like the idea of giveaways and contests, that's great and a good way to grow. I have been wanting to increase my pledge for a while, and hopefully once things have settled, I can. I just want to see you guys get the support you deserve. Any of the ideas you had sound amazing and I will definitely be supporting.

Mitchell Christman

I’m a little late to the party but I think a discord server would be awesome. The Ne Obluminati can share amongst each other and you all can share and chat with us as well. Like social media that is just for members here. You could also run giveaways and contests through discord using a myriad of bots that are available. Each tier member would get their own role and each role can have different permissions. For example people that are over $25 can have access to some things $5 members don’t. Very similar to patreon in that regard.
