I remember I lent the OG CD to my friend Mycah and he lost it. What a squid.

Discover weekly on Spotify showed me forget not in 2018 been hooked ever since

Found the song "Forget Not" on my boyfriend's mp3 player after he had passed away and that's how I found you guys. Been amazed by you guys ever since.

Not sure when or how exactly, but sometime back in 2015-2016 I searched for progressive death metal songs and found this song which really caught my attention as it was really original. It had a really interesting beat with two singers, one clean vocals and one growl which I thought was one of the best ideas ever. Kind of like how Iron Maiden has like a dozen guitar players. Been hooked to NeO ever since, and am very excited how you will develop and age over time! 🤘🏻🎉

First heard you guys over a year ago on a YouTube reaction channel (The Charismatic Voice) analysing And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope. I thought to myself "huh, that was different", and moved on. About two, three days later I came back to the video cause I just couldn't quite shake the feeling there's stuff about the song I couldn't fully appreciate on first listen. Every time I listened to it, I liked it a bit more. Now, I'm a picky listener. If I don't absolutely, unequivocally LOVE a song, it's not making it on my playlist. Hence, it was always hard for me to say who's my favourite band, cause for most bands I liked like 2-5 songs and the rest of it didn't do it for me at all. After about 5 more listens to Plague, it was inseparably glued to my playlist as my favourite song. If I woke up in the middle of the night cuase of some ache or another, I'd find it playing in my head at the very brink of conscious thought. I just couldn't shake it. After about a month or two, I straight up dove after your music, something I NEVER do for any band I listen to and just listened to all of it. And the same thing happened. Walked away from it with the feeling of "that was something else, never heard stuff like that, but not quite my kind of thing...I think". Within the next week or so I had to replay the stuff cause of that same feeling of only having scratched the surface on first listen. My brain was struggling to keep up, had a hard time predicting the flow as I would with an average, metal/rock song, it was just too much to fully assess on first-time hearing. Picked out a few gems out of that after a few more passes, most of them from Portal of I (Forget Not, which replaced Plague as my favourite song, Petrichor, Tapestry). And that was that, I was pretty happy with my collection of your guys' music. Still it wouldn't let me rest. Over the next year or so I'd studiously come back to your other music now and then to give it another listen to see if perhaps there was a gem I missed. And sure enough, every time there'd be a new song joining my playlist. At this point I can say without a shadow of a doubt that you guys are my favourite band. And Portal of I has the highest success rate in terms of playlist-worthy songs of any album I've ever listened to. I shudder to think what you guys are gonna do to my brain with the next release XD

Damn, what a song to find at a time like that...

Been happily reading the comments. For me it was around 2018. I had recently come back from a fest and one of the guys I met there spoke to me about NeO. I remember thinking “that’s an interesting band name”. Then a post on the SOM fb and I decided to find out. First video that popped out on YouTube was And plague… and my first thought was “this is a bit too jazzy”, and left. I came back to it sometime later and now I firmly believe I will be here being a fangirl until the day I die.

2012, discovered "Of Petrichor Weaves Black Noise" via YT and few seconds later ordered CD. Entire Album made me blow away so, personally I purchased many copies via Aural Music and lay in stock at the record shop I had worked in those days. as a side note, few days later sold out. In the next year I met guys in JP, that was best moment haha.

2014, just after the first few bands bands for Metaldays 2015 were announced, I decided to give a listen to the bands I didn't know. Came across "As Icicles Fall" on YouTube, and thought to myself "These guys are something special", and that was that :)

Eva

What a heartbreaking and heartwarming story. 🖤 Sending you a hug.

2015, saw you guys with Cradle of Filth in the Czech Republic, thought you were great, then listened to Portal of I and the more I listened to it, the more I was falling in love with the album and your music :))

About one week before Graspop 2015. I checked out all bands from the lineup that I didn't know and was completely blown away by PoI. Can't pick a favourite song, it's a masterpiece in its entirety and urgently needs to be performed as whole. If you can't organise an anniversary tour, then at least record a performance.

Tina

I'm so sorry for you. Hope the song helped a little with your grief.😔💔

I first listened to this Album when the 2014 tour was happening. But back then I was still new to Heavy Metal and was not accustomed to Xens Black Metal style of growls! And the Heavy sounds yet. haha So I could not get into this Album at that time, sadly. But after I experienced more harsher genres of Heavy Metal and got more into classical music too. And then came upon to Listen to this Album again. It clicked and then I was mindblown!

I first discovered you guys after hearing intra Venus and later that day I was on a train ride home and I decided to listen to portal of I. I was basically half asleep the whole time and when I woke up at my stop the album was finished and I just thought to myself, “wow that was special”. Even though I was barely paying attention, it somehow seeped into my brain just how good the album is. It was literally a feeling I’ve never felt before.

I was talking to a friend about the use of different instruments in metal (in particular grave from Caligulas horse) and he asked if I liked violin, and said there was an awesome band also from down under that was worth checking out. So one night, as I am cooking, I just search you guys on YouTube and of course the first song was plague flowers, so I play it, and I instantly love the intro. The transition into the lyrical section damn made me burn my chicken marsala because I had to stop and really listen to what just happened. I was hooked instantly. Your music just holds such an emotional grasp, I’m not even sure how lol. This was roughly 2018, and I can’t wait for you guys to tour the US again so I can see you live. If I was a rich man, I would have come to Australia for the tour you guys did with rivers of Nihil, Caligulas horse, and others. That had to have been an amazing show. Anyway, can’t wait to see you in Florida, and thanks for the music!

Saturday morning. Cleaning day. I asked my daughter for some music. So I was on the other side of the house when I started to hear the violin. - Woooow, this is great! Then enters Xenoyr. - Woooow, wooooow, OMG, what's that! - Ha, come here and wait to see the singer. I ran to the living room with something like a Johan Hegg in my head... and then found a pale and skinny boy screaming like a possessed. You can imagine my face. And plague flowers the kaleidoscope. P S. And this was before I discover the lyrics and really pay attention to the music... So now I'm definitely a fangirl. Well, a fan woman? Whatever. Love your music, guys.

Anarmir

I hoped to be also a “fan woman”, but I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m a definetely a fangirl, regarding NeO at least 😅

I remember listening to Portal of I for the first time in October of 2015 just by a random click on YouTube. I was in the mood for discovering new music and the album cover intrigued me and I was blown away. Halfway through the second song and I seriously posted a comment on YouTube saying "holy shit, I think I like this band more than Opeth". That comment generated a lot of hate towards me and I don't get why because I am able to like whatever the hell I want. It was a bold statement at the time being only 18 minutes into that album of a band I was listening to the very first time. But 7 years later and a couple of more albums to give me more of a catalogue to enjoy, I still think I do like Ne Obliviscaris more than Opeth.

First time I heard Portal of I was in July of 2015. My grandfather who I was exceptionally close to had just passed and I was looking for music to help me get through a rough time. I stumbled upon Forget Not first and I remember the absolutely crazy amount of times I listened to it on repeat because it became such a comfort song. As a kid I never heard music any heavier than Metallica but I was starting college and exploring my own musical tastes. The album spoken to me. The more and more I listened, the more and more I was drawn into the album. Song after song I found myself entranced in the sound that you all created. Forget Not remains my favorite song of all time and Portal of I is my favorite album of all time. They are timeless masterpieces that have stuck by me through so much. This was my introduction into not only progressive music but also heavy music and I think I picked the perfect place to start. I will never forget the memories that this album has brought me.
