I'm concerned about where this plotline is going. Not about the "will they, won't they?" plot, but how much it feels like Myu's own weight gain is getting sidelined again in favor of other aspects. I think it's fine for someone to not have any romantic interests, but Myu being aromantic I think will hurt her weight gain journey, especially since it seems like all her possible feeder candidates feel SOMETHING for her. Out of all of them, I think Nadette has the least romantic interest in her, yet also has methods that Myu is unwilling to do.

TRH7

this is really melodramatic

Huh... It kinda feels like she's trying to find problems sometimes and really just needs to communicate. That kind of character trope can become tiring without development/change.

Eh, I don't really see the "getting sidelined again in favor of other aspects" bit, TBH - for me the draw's always BEEN the combo of stuff since, well, that's basically the characters being actual characters instead of just one-notes.

Contrary to the other comments made at the time of this post, I actually like the fact we're seeing Myu making realizations herself bit by bit ^_^. Maybe I'm being forgiving, but on the other hand maybe it's just that I get how slow going it can be when dealing with stuff you've never dealt with before (heck, last few pages were literally about the fact she's never bothered with romance or ever been on the giving end of it, so it doesn't feel a surprise to me that this is first-time realizations for her). Way back in ye old days when the comic first started, her character arc at the start was about being stuck in the same place no matter what she did and not being able to figure out how to progress; now she's making headway on the stuff that's troubling her slowly but surely. She might have had to work her way up to understanding stuff, but I admit I really like how she's getting it on her own instead of needing someone else to give her the answer.

Yet we're nearing 550 pages, with more aspects getting introduced while Myu has only just reached (in comic anyway) proper fat girl status. Considering her desire for weight gain being the main driving force of this comic, it gets sidelined in favor of world building as well as focus on the other characters very often. There's been a ton of set up, but Myu's weight hasn't kept up with all of it. The extreme imbalance between those is the biggest flaw of the comic.

You're giving Myu much more credit than she deserves. A lot of the answers she's gotten so far have been because of other people, while her stubbornness and pickiness often keep her from acting on what options she has. If not that, then it's another subplot that takes her attention. It's a cycle, one that has to break eventually.

MrMetroid

No, I don't think so; there's piecing together answers for yourself through context provided by others, and then there's just having other people give you all the answers and you taking them face-value. There's a difference between the two and I think Myu is the former - she's still making the conclusions on her own and solving the problem herself. Which is progress compared to where she was before, which is what I would call the actual cycle in contrast to now. Also, as a bit of an aside; this is just personal feelings, but I don't feel like it's really been a case of subplots taking her attention; each one has been it's own little arc that helped her move out of the cycle she was stuck in - from realizing what exactly her "physical" hinderance was (i.e., a mental block) to addressing each of her relationships one by one so that she isn't just hiding what she wants to herself. Maybe you see it different, but I honestly don't see this as the cycle compared to the one she was in when she started; in my eyes, this is just little steps up the ladder ^_^.
