2024, delayed content, Log Myu, 2025 (Patreon)

Hi everyone,

2024 came to an end, 2025 just started. I'll take some time to talk about what happened the past year, the still delayed content, Log Myu, and what to expect this year.

2024 has been an eventful year for me in many ways. I've had to deal with an almost never-ending succession of IRL problems of all kinds. I've somehow managed to overcome most of them one way or another (something a close one described as "being lucky in your bad luck"), but some of them were hits that had to be tanked. Almost to prove a final point, 2024 ended with the passing of my last grandparent on the 31st, which is the reason I haven't been able to post as much as usual this week.

This past week pretty much summarizes 2024: something happens and I then struggle to find enough time to work outside of night hours, while I deal with the something in question during daytime. I have no idea how I would have made it through if I was still working a 9-5 job, but I'm sure that from an IRL perspective it would have been a year full of regrets, which thankfully it didn't become. I certainly owe it to everyone here, all who have supported my work as an independent creator. Thank you a lot!

From a creator's perspective, 2024 certainly left me with regrets on top of being a very frustrating year due to the lack of time. Despite doing my best to stay afloat with content creation, I'm way behind schedule, missing a whopping 260 hours. I have a backlog of 12 poll winners (instead of 5 under normal circumstances) and the last few pages of Midori's Growth are still nowhere to be seen. And what probably had the biggest impact was that I wasn't able to work as much as needed on Log Myu.

As I sometimes explain, Log Myu follows an overarching plan that is already written, while the exact content of "arcs" and individual pages is planned only a bit ahead of the drawing stage. My lack of time coincided with the beginning of the GKL arc, that has been ongoing for months and is coming to an end soon. Instead of being able to plan everything in advance, I had to plan it in small groups of pages, which resulted (I think) in a disjointed arc, often too lengthy, sometimes too condensed, and inconsistencies in the art. A perspective that only exists because time has passed since the first few pages, and that has lead me to recently cut a part of the comic for the second time to prevent another subplot from disrupting things even more.

It's nothing new that Log Myu receives a lot of criticism, for a variety of reasons that have already been talked here extensively. Some I agree with, others that stem from a difference in expectations and vision of the comic. But for the first time I feel like I haven't been able to deliver my vision properly with the last arc. I want to do better.

What can you expect this year, especially the next few weeks?

First, drawings. I want to go back to having a normal backlog and returning to a 5 weeks delay between the content poll and the content release. In order to do that, I'll need to finish Midori's Growth sooner rather than later, since one of the poll winner in the backlog will take the form of a short comic/long sequence, and that working on three comics at the same time wouldn't make any sense.

Second, a less regular schedule for Log Myu pages. I don't have reasons to believe this year will be as eventful as the last one, but I also don't have reasons to believe it won't be. Either way, I don't want to renew the experience of last year. So if needed, I'll delay pages to ensure I can deliver what I want the way I want, with the goal of posting at least 10 pages a month as usual.

Third, polls as usual, mostly. The theme and themed polls are temporarily suspended while I work on previous themed poll winners. Unless I catch up by then, I also intend to suspend rework polls, as creating new content feels more important than reworking existing pieces in this context of limited working time.

Fourth, a general feedback post, if possible. I haven't had enough time to work on a new schedule last year, so the current one has been the same for a while. I'd like to update it this year, which would require your input.

Fifth, a possibly rocky June and/or July. I know for a certainty that I won't be able to work as much as I want around that time (hospital stuff/not for me). I'll do my best to be ahead of schedule by then, but just in case, you now know about it.
