With Midori's Growth now complete, I wanted to share some thoughts about the comic, and gather your feedbacks. Feel free to share whatever comes to mind, it will be helpful for future comics! Thanks :)

I'll start with mine:

What went wrong

- The publishing schedule was far too inconsistent. Midori's Growth was meant to be completed within a few months. With only 34 pages, it should have been feasible to release at least one page per week over 34 weeks, especially since the comic was taking up time normally used for OC sequences. Unexpected real life events got in the way, but that's something I could and should have anticipated. The takeaway is that for future short comics I won't begin publishing until I have enough content prepared to accomodate such unforeseen circumstances.

What could have been better

- The art style was different from Log Myu's, and it had its ups and downs. Managing two different styles simultaneously isn't an issue in itself, but when there were long gaps between pages, it became difficult to get back into the style. This led to noticeable (to me, at least) fluctuations.

- Some transitions could have been handled better - like the shift to the golden valley "arc". It would have required a couple of additional pages, but it would have made the transitions smoother.

What went well

- I wanted the colors to differ from my usual palette, to give the comic a different vibe. Looking at it, I believe it's been achieved!

- The page format was unsurprisingly much easier to work with than Log Myu's (which was originally designed for single panels). It made it easier to do more than just half body-shots.

- The comic length : I aimed to keep it dense so that each page offered something new. For the most part I think that goal was achieved. The tradeoff was that some minor details were left unexplained - like why Midori didn't grow the golden drop plant from its fruits - but I believe it was for the best.

What I'm unsure about

- Early access to the comic was theoretically meant to be limited to Plus Size Tier patrons and above, since it was replacing the usual OC sequences. However, I released the first third of the comic to all patrons as a form of promotion, similar to what I did with the Lai-E short comic a couple years ago. In hindsight, I don't think it was the best approach, and I'll likely try a different method next time. I'm especially interested in hearing from patrons who had access to the promotional potion of the comic but not the rest : I'd like to know what you thought of it.

- With Midori's story, I aimed to create something fresh, something that hadn't been done before to my knowledge. I wanted it to add some lore for readers familiar with my other works, without requiring them to fully engage with the comic. As the writer it's difficult to judge how well I succeeded, so once again, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it!

Your turn!

You hit all the major points. I really loved the story. Easy to follow and get invested in. Art style was great and the payoff was perfect. Even with a satisfying conclusion I wanted more but was still very happy.

Kota Wulf

Loved the story and pacing. Would like a part two latter on if she does find the gold.

lemao

I think you are a great artist, the adherence to a schedule is great but to make such art its fine to have breaks or delays. Never had an issue with that.

Curiousonlooker

I second this, especially since that last shot seems to hint at her eventually finding it

Kota Wulf

Also forgot to add. Life happens.

Jotun The Writer

I like the idea of posting first few pages for all paid patreons as to motivate people. As for the story, I really liked the idea and while the pacing was sometimes non intuitive, it was still very well done. the Different palette you have used was nice, its great that you are not limiting yourself to just one style. As a sidenote, I really liked the idea with character getting confused for queen and being fed as one, I can see story like this with giant bee hive and character getting trapped and becoming fed to immense sizes, maybe idea for the place with source of golden drop? XD

Tanuki

Oh yes, the wait was long, and there came a point where I thought you'd abandon or put the project on hold, but fortunately, that wasn't the case. I think this time served to clarify some ideas. I feel like with Midori's story, you worked with ideas you'd wanted to try for a long time and took risks with others. I loved the whole ant thing and it opened up new possibilities in the lore of this universe. I feel like a couple of panels were missing in the final pages, but the main idea was conveyed well. In conclusion, I was pleased to see this change in drawing style, especially the color palette. I also liked the narrative. I know that a project of this size requires a large investment of time, and it's likely that it will take you quite a while to do something like this. I'll wait for it.

DigDog

I thought the story looked interesting, but knowing ahead of time that I wouldn't see the remaining two-thirds definitely killed most interest in reading it for me.

Apostle

I think the pacing and the overall story very good

Horus925

Mainly it was too long a wait for updates. The story was excellent, but could maybe have done with a few pages of midori back in civilisation after her trip. If anything, id just love some more Midori, shes an interesting and likeable character, i think you should do more with her.

Efrom Nathan

Promotion pulled me in. I’ve seen Log Myu before but I’m more into the BE and incidentally take the WG.

SomeLostLeo

I liked the story's pacing and the length of the comic. As for releases, complications on your end sounded like they were unavoidable, so don't beat yourself up over that. However, I do think at least 2 pages a month for shorter comics would be more ideal than only one page per month. I get that this is a business, but it would be nice if there were more comics getting done in less than half a year.

SomeLostLeo

The point regarding it being nice if comics were to be do in shorter stretches of time is because, Log Myu has now been going for over 5 years now, and she's only in the standard bbw range. While it's had occasional fanservice for those who like sizes far bigger than where Myu currently is, it still makes people who enjoy bigger sizes wait for long periods of time for their payoff compared to those who've liked chubby and bbw sizes getting what they like nearly every page. Shorter comics can help fill that void of bigger sizes, since Log Myu's end still feels like it's nowhere in sight (I'm half predicting that it'll reach 1,000 pages).

Firestrike

I actually really liked Midori's Growth! Midori was a great main character imo, and I do think the comic felt very fresh. The art was really pretty throughout and I thought the pacing was perfect. The plot was also interesting, I genuinely was curious about the golden drop plant and Midori's journey in relation to it. But, to be fair, I generally am a fan of shorter comics like these. Great work!

I'll admit the price change threw me off at first, but I shrugged it off at the time. between all the Patrons I help out, roughly once or twice a year I need to do "Bugget cuts" or Pause months for certain. Impulse controll on wanting to help everyone out. [but spending almost 200 per month, when I shouldn't be spending over 100 to begin with, I try to keep it below 150 as much as possible.]

Jared K Gonzalez

Overall I loved seeing each new update when it came out. It was a fun comic

mike

Overall a really enjoyable comic/project. Two issues with it: First, it is criminal that you didn't reveal what Midori ended up looking like in the final page!!! I'd love to see a comparison from page 1 vs page 34 as I am sure it would be incredible. Second, the release schedule, yes. But I would argue that a lack of transparency/being kept in the dark through delays is a larger, overarching issue. I don't think I am alone here in feeling that it is better to know that something is going to be delayed than to have an expectation of something being released and then being met with radio silence for (at times) up to a month regarding the project status. Otherwise, the art style, the story, and the length of the project were all really really wonderful. I'd like to see something in the future in a similar format as Lai-E/Midori.

[1/4] Some Minor Things Cursive is kinda dead, the number of people who write and can even read it is only decreasing and being forgotten by people who were taught it. I know it’s not just me, everyone I know has forgotten how to, so page 6 is very difficult to decipher. The new page format and the art style should be the new norm. The art direction is more visually distinct and eye catching so it stands out from the rest while having the traditional page format makes it feel more “right” like a real comic. [2/4] Broader Scope It kinda feels like Midori is in too much of a bubble considering most of her interactions and reactions to her progress are in a chat (or on a computer in Silver’s case) It’s good that there were no side characters taking up the spotlight and we did get plenty of a look outside her bubble with her audience, but midori could have benefited from some recurring faces to bounce off of to demonstrate how others see her progress and actions more. The people who recognize her couldn’t have only just started seeing her after she opened up a shop, especially the people who talked behind her back that motivated her to take this direction in the first place. Seeing how those people react to her actually rising in the ranks and even surpassing them would have been interesting, as well as the possibility that some of them would probably want some blooming nectar themselves. It’s too easy to see Midori recognizing someone buying her product and grinning to herself in a “who’s laughing now” sense. We also could have seen one or some of the people who bought the breast elixir and their reactions to their results, thus showing us a wider view of the feedback from the nectar. Maybe we see how Midori acts around people with similar ambitions after her success instead of just a cameo from Myu as well as the awkward situation she’d be in seeing those kinds of people get the opposite of what they wanted. [3/4]Momentum In Weight Gain Comics Sorry this is about to turn into feedback for Log Myu thus far but it’s worth bringing up cause they’re both similar enough that it’s necessary to explain why one succeeds where the other fails. Both are about flat but motivated girls that want to change their appearance and use their determination and data collection to change what seems impossible for them. Both explore how others perceive their bodies conflict with the leads own, how it affects their drive to change themselves and the reception they get from their progress. The key difference being Midori’s Growth spends the first act with enough time and progress that it has something to build off of. We start off seeing Midori’s love of botany, sensitivity about her chest size, how it’s viewed by others affects her drive to change that and how it can be accomplished with her knowledge of botany. We see her and her audience react to her success and the lore behind how it works as well as what it’s like for someone so flat like this to go through such an ideal change, then finishing the arc with how it feels for her to accomplish her ideal self and prove the nay sayers wrong. There’s enough time spent on the benefits from her perspective and how she handles the negatives of it that there’s enough satisfying utility of her expansion as is that taking a turn to switch things up is completely acceptable. Because it’s mostly all one steady pace fans of all sizes get what they want. People who want straight flat to busty get a lot of material, people who want flat to fat get a lot of material, people who want extreme expansion get a lot of material, people who want lore and character ESPECIALLY get a lot of material as that’s inherently baked into the narrative and it’s actually utilized. Everyone’s happy. Basically, we’re being told a story, a story with a real solid structure. Her expansion is the primary focus behind it and there’s hardly any deviation as most of what happens as stuff like WG, statistics, her channel and her botany all work to emphasize or utilize her expansion. Occasionally it’ll focus more on her being fat than busty too much but that’s kinda it. Momentum never breaks whereas Myu constantly breaks momentum to a degree that most of it from her early stage can’t be recovered and can’t be built upon after glossing over her chubby stage, making even less momentum to build on in her super size stage. [4/4] The Cave Arc / Momentum 2 Around page 18 the shots stopped emphasizing her breasts first and foremost where her figure was more centered around her being fat than busty-fat and didn’t pick back up again until page 29. However, again, because it was so centered around her chest growth for so long it could afford to have a departure like that cause it spent so long with the main premise. We had already seen plenty of Midori accomplishing and experiencing what it’s like to grow her chest and what it’s like to do so at the expense of her waistline that a drastic change to keep things going works. Overall the ant cave arc itself was a big departure as it primarily honed in on one aspect of Midori, the fact that she goes on big botanical expositions, and by utilizing its primary story for so long it had earned the right to do a “spin off” arc to take priority. A lot of what could be done with Midori, the botanist who uses her knowledge to increase her bust size and Midori, the influencer who faced hubris for chasing clout but grew to love herself regardless it could now afford to do Midori, the botanist who goes on a quest to find the BE plant she’s sought after. It’s more in line with stories like One Serving Choice where the Saiya and the arcs she goes through are thoroughly explored before switching things up and each segment in those arcs has at least one major scene that utilizes the kink potential from that part in the arc. (Granted, like Log Myu this is a larger scale comic so for Midori you can attribute “one major scene” to a panel or two in a page as this was designed to be more condensed experience.) The only real change that would have kept things steadier would be to have more statistics like she had on the rocks in the ant cave. At least one page would have maintained that aspect of it.

Sorry, I know this is Midori feedback, but I have no suggestions there… just want to touch on some of the Myu comments I’m seeing. Specifically: Am I the only one that likes the pace of Log Myu?? There are a million fast paced rapid WG-into-ultra-sizes comics out there. If you like that, you have choices. So I really don’t get complaining that Log Myu is slow — genuinely, there are tons of other options online if you want something faster. If you (like me) prefer something slower, on the other hand, there are very few options. Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way, idk. But I would not like it if Log Myu was fast-tracked. (edit only bc it posted before I could finish writing)

Shapeshifter10

Sorry this explanation got so big but it’s basically the gist (if you could even call it that at this point) of why it still feels like we’re waiting for things to happen despite a lot having happened. It’s more so that Myu and her journey get no focus. Log Myu’s current pacing SHOULD be like this but it’s Myu being treated as a vessel to watch everyone around her gain weight that’s the problem. (And makes people who prefer smaller comics assume it’s just her not getting bigger faster that’s the problem.) She’s like a well thought out lead character forced into the roll of a nameless self insert protagonist from an RPG or visual novel where they lead isn’t supposed to be the focus but someone for all the events to just revolve around. Besides being in a linker think about how much attention was given to myu and her gain after that whole arc once she finally started getting fatter like she wanted vs how many scenes the side characters get about theirs. Even the most recent page has pointed out Myu’s still continuing to not check her belly every day so she’s already not acting how she would have normally with her lifelong mission being accomplished before her eyes. It started strong where everything, even fan service with other characters primarily was more about how it tied back to myu (specifically her relationships with those characters and how their views on getting fatter themselves and her being fatter contrasted) as it was setting up what it’s like for her to watch everyone else around her gain as she worked hard to progress. Then it got cut off with that felt like a completely new introduction to a separate introduction arc for a subplot that’s too far removed from the original built up goal of “girl who can’t just eat herself fat slowly learning how” with “girl who can’t eat herself fat suddenly gets a new body, stuffed herself like never before, sees what it’s like to be out in public bigger and gets to experience getting super huge all at once.” Granted the stuffing is exactly what Myu should have in terms of focus, a side character who can accomplish what Myu desperately wants and how her gaining interacts with Myu’s while keeping the core of the fan service and narrative importance of it on her body as well as the train scene, Myu being put in a position where she’s seen others who are bigger in but hasn’t experienced herself, but now is. However, Myu never works up to any of that, it just sort of happened and was done in a copy body with no lasting barring on what happens with her real one in a slow burn progression state. And once she goes back to her regular gaining methods there hasn’t been anything like that with her. nothing significant is done. It’s just business as usual where she occasionally checks herself while everyone else gets their bigger moments. Think about what got focus after Myu woke up from that coma. She didn’t give that much thought to suddenly being chubby for the first time (in memory) and was just getting checked out by a doctor. Instead Zina gets one, but that makes sense as she’s gained a lot and the button pop demonstrates her change in mindset… but Myu doesn’t get anything like that. Once Myu is finally released from her recovery she’s finally free to be out in the world as a fat girl… for a few panels. But gets to finally gets to shop at a plus sized clothing store, validating that she’s gotten fat enough to warrant bigger clothes and has a totally unique reaction to such a thing… for two condensed pages. Doesn’t even get any inner dialogue about the experience. What we do get is a very meaty scene with Naddet, which like Zina would be needed to showcase how much bigger she’s gotten since we last saw her, and it even goes the extra mile to have a whole big stuckage moment. And that’s how it’s been since. Myu gets a shower scene where she kinda feels up her bigger body without much thought, Zina gets visually stuffed at a cafe and her OWN clothing store scene. Then when it’s Myu’s turn she’s back in the bathroom, admittedly gives a much more Myu reaction, especially a big one after she out gains Zina of all things… and it stops there. It just continues like that all the time. It started with a good set up for the main character, premise and how it builds up to the goal. Then got cut off with a massive arc that’s a completely different premise with different, less slow burn methods. Then returned just to give all its energy to the side characters who can just do the main character’s goal effortlessly with no build up or significance. And by the time she’s achieved her ideal body size of being undeniably fat she’s supposed to feel guilty about it and getting bigger would be a bad thing she can’t enjoy, killing more momentum that hasn’t been fully built rather than adding a twist to a previously explored concept. This is a stark contrast to Midori’s growth. Midori never took a break from being the girl who always wanted to get huge breasts despite what others said because it was part of the experience and if she did I seriously doubt it would be to the degree Myu did if it had her her length. She had a journey to get to where she needed to go, took in her progress as it went, then took time to admire her handy work and how far she’d come as she reached her desired state as a super busty girl and overcame the issues that came with it. (Albeit to a smaller, more condensed version of what Myu could have gone through given the pacing and length difference.) With Myu the two have overlapped. Right now her progress has achieved the “this is what I always wanted” size instead of just chubby but it’s overlapped completely by her “things turn wrong” arc as Myu finally being undeniably fat for the first time in her adult life IS the problem she’s facing. Imagine if Midori just meandered around while others peoples breasts grew, not talking much about her own progress and by the time she was soothing her breasts with cream, getting comments about her new figure, checking out how her hips grew and not minding them, getting to the top 25 ranking, getting asked if her breasts we’re natural and talking about how she loves to squeeze them, feel them jiggle and yearning to make them bigger… was instead replaced by the part where she gained enough weight to feel subconscious and crop her body out of videos, never having enjoyed that part where she’s accomplished what it’s like to have her ideal figure. There’s also no momentum built to earn a turn like that. Again, this SHOULD be what Log Myu’s length is like. This SHOULD be how the pacing is. It’s just not on the story, only the sub plots. And that’s what makes all of this feel like waiting despite there “technically” being good progress on Myu’s front. She’s gained a lot of weight… but did she really? Or does she just happen to be bigger? I too would not like Log Myu fast tracked but I seriously worry that that’s what we’ll get once she’s allowed to go all out for the last fourth along with a big conspiracy plot line that would make her paranoid to positive reception, more linker stuff to substitute her real body and the kgl arc potentially making Myu’s gains more about Naddet’s progress in the competition.

NoteFloh2848

I really liked midiri's growth. Nobody could foresee your health problems but I think you handled if very good. I have to say that I'm courious if we see midori again. I hope so. Maybe a Idea I had. A alternate ending for the story. "What if midori stayed in the valley?" how big would she be? Maybe something for a one-shot drawing

pixiveo

Interesting to hear you followed the comic for the BE first, you're not the first person to tell me so. For what it's worth, I used to do both WG and BE before WG took over, but I intend to work on a pure BE comic on my non-Patreon time at some point in the future (when I'll have non-Patreon time, basically x). Thank you for the feedback!

pixiveo

Glad you liked it, thank you for the feedback!

pixiveo

Noted! I hesitated to conclude with more pages. I initially had a draft for something longer, but it ended up looking more like an additional "arc" than a conclusion, so I condensed it to keep the focus on closure. At this point I don't have much more planned for Midori, but I'll see what I can do. I'm glad you liked her :) And thank you for the feedback!

pixiveo

Glad you liked it! If the comic had continued, what would you have liked to see? Bigger size? Thanks the feedback!

pixiveo

Glad you liked the comic! At this point there are no plans for a second part, the semi-open ending with Midori finding the golden drop plant, is meant to wrap up her story with the idea that "eventually, she'll find it." Thank you for the feedback!

pixiveo

At this point there are no plans for more big Midori-focused content, but looking at the comments here, many would like to see her again. I'll see what can be done. Thank you for the feedback, and I'm glad you liked the comic!

SomeLostLeo

Yeet, there's been a lot more slow paced options to come over the years, a couple of which are also 4-5 years long. You have some nerve to lie about lack of other options, and to get upset about others being unhappy about the pace of this comic.
