Maybe don't tell her not to do these things?

This page should not exist. You can’t make a comic where the majority of its main characters personality is eliminated and then point out that all the fantastic potential the story had is lost forever. Myu will never have this kind of experience from skinny to fat ever again. And if she ever DOES get to that point there was no progression to get to it. No myu starting small and working up to being chubby and fat and actually showing the character progression like what’s shown here as it happens. I know it’s asking too much, especially considering how much work has gone into log myu already, but this comic needs a remake. We aren’t seeing the full story.

Tanuki

Myu left, and this is an impostor.

LordMaul

Maybe this is the linker, who just believes they are Myu. The real Myu is in that facility as a giant blob. But nah, my theory is that Myu is so locked in with the competition that she is forgetting to enjoy herself. We have seen all the hard work she has to do to get donations because of Nadette's actions.

Shapeshifter10

That wouldn’t explain why this has been happening since woke up from the coma. When she first saw her weight on the scale. She’s been unable to recognize her progress for the majority of the story.

Nyarlep

People are saying there is something wrong with this depiction but it feels more like there is a cowgirl shaped hole in her heart and maybe she’s a bit depressed? Idk it feels personally familiar and I don’t see any issue with that kind of character depth evolving here

MrMetroid

Um... I don't see anything like that at all ^_^; Putting aside that "a comic where the majority of its main characters personality is eliminated" feels outright inaccurate (Myu's core personality of being a bit of a teasing trollish type has been pretty consistant), the claim of "all the fantastic potential the story had is lost forever" just does not seem to be the reality to me when it seems to rely on this idea that Myu 'normalizing' to her state just seems... like being a person? The whole reason Myu is even here in the first place, having Nadette point this out to her, feels like it goes hand in hand with how there was a lot of progression to get to it - even aside the author-note in this upload ('Maybe don't tell her not to do these things?') implying some of it could have been Myu trying to take things more seriously because it was important to Nadette (i.e., same reason she let her weight plateau for a bit)... it feels kinda like a given that the bulk of Myu's 'calmness' is because she (A) technically already has been bigger than thus through the Linker (to the point that last I recall she was literally afraid nothing else/no other size would compare for her now) and (B) has been trying to parse/is mentally preoccupied with savaging her friendships such as a certain moo-cow that keeps ghosting her. I dunno, maybe it's because I started reading after a lot of the comic was already out and could binge-read it all... but personally, I am just plain not seeing the "this comic needs a remake" here since it doesn't seem like the full story isn't there to see. Not from what I can see, at least.

MrMetroid

From what I remember, there was literally a line from Myu wondering if any size she reached was gonna feel the same after how big she got in the linker; that seems like it'd explain things pretty soundly even without factoring stuff like thinking about/prioritizing her friendships a bit more compared to how before she was almost totally focused on her weight.

I'd like to see Myu happier here and definitely a lot larger, but I'm not sure I agree that's she's somehow lost personality because she has complex emotions after her success here. If anything, it seems like the opposite. She was a very one note and monofocused character at the start where gains are the only thing that matter to her. Definitely the kind of character this story called for, but I wouldn't call that a personality. She's had a bloat she didn't think was possible after Nadetta trained her to tamper down expectation, in additions to Ilya's affections and Lan constantly challenging her with cynicism. I agree she needs to enjoy her gains, but you seem a little pessimistic here, isn't this just a temporary stumbling block?

Shapeshifter10

If it lasts for the majority of the comic and takes away so much character progression then no, it’s not just a stumbling block. It being temporary doesn’t matter.

Shapeshifter10

But that doesn’t mean she has to feel nothing about her gains like she would have before. Her feelings towards Ilya and the scenes about her wondering if she should save her spot as feeder that come with it would be exactly the same without it. Her being disappointed the first person to encourage her to gain isn’t there to see it doesn’t mean she has to be mentally neutered from feeling anything at all.

bluepen

This is an interesting development, especially since she was so frustrated earlier in the day that she couldn't keep eating. Really curious to see what the source of the ambivalence is.

bluepen

Maybe it was the experience in the linker? Even temporarily being bigger than this could've spoilt the earlier stages for her

Nyarlep

Depression in particular can make you feel nothing. It can sap the enjoyment out of anything you do leading to a profound feeling of emptiness and the fact that it’s a narrative beat means that it’s likely the case and reason. It’s also explicitly a narrative beat that she seems to be feeling empty when she should be euphoric so that’s probably the case

MrMetroid

That's just it, though; from where I stand, it literally did nothing of the sort - if anything it did the complete opposite. There was no " takes away so much character progression " in my eyes - its that her character progressed from obsessing just on weight gain, in part because (A) for the longest time she wasn't able to actually do it, but now it's something she can accomplish at a decent tilt instead of having to fight every step for it, (B) she got more aware of her friends than she used to be, and (C) she's already hit a cap way beyond where she's at now through that linker experience and, from what I recall, had even said outright that she's not sure any other smaller size will hit the same after that. Point being that even aside me disagreeing with the "It being temporary doesn’t matter" belief since temporary personality tics can indeed matter if part of the story is overcoming what caused them... I'm just not seeing what you're seeing here, honestly.

MrMetroid

Nothing and nowhere was it said that Myu felt nothing, though(?) Like, she notes that she's enjoying it - she was pretty damn smug and taunting just earlier with the button-popping. Like Nadette said, it's more that she's not bouncing off the walls in euphoria/not *as* excited as Nadette expected. She wasn't "mentally neutered from feeling anything at all" - she just wasn't being explosive about it anymore.

Nyarlep

Its implied she feels unfufilled which is what I mean
