Pretty sure it’s an artificial body for people wealthy enough to use. Practical for those in positions of personal bodily risk, where their natural bodies aren’t unable to meet the requirements (such as modelling, perhaps) or they just want to experience certain things without placing themselves at risk. Seems as though it’s a mental link so they control the remote body as though it was their own. Or if you mean Myu’s job, probably making sure everything’s working correctly, maintenance, ensuring the links aren’t wonky, possibly creation of new bodies, who knows?
