Well now, this should not come as a shock to anyone, but we have resumed production on Sapphire Safari after taking a break to build systems and mechanics for world exploration. We decided to go back to the drawing board and scope things around a little since our team is small and we have very little knowledge on open-world games, so making enclosed environments for each biome with a focus on exploring these areas completely is the new goalpost.

As such while the team is finishing up the tool packages we need for Sapphire (locomotion specifically) production has begun on the first full-featured environment, the rainforest region. Here are a few sample shots of how it looks at the moment. Trying to reach a nice level of density for foliage and optimization.

How does it look?

From how it used to look till now is a nice improvement. Can't wait to get into the game and enjoy the visuals and environment.

It's just the start, to be honest, we want to check the scaling and other such things in the level as well. It needs to feel vast, but also be manageable and filled with engaging things to do. A difficult problem for sure.
