The Prince Of Wales - Hold My Beer

The Prince Of Wales - Hold My Beer Written by Reinder Dijkhuis/Johan Dijkhuis Before The Hooded Crow, there was The Prince Of Wales (1992-1993), which consisted of Donald Donleben on guitar and vocals, and Reinder and me. Most of our existence we were looking for a bass player, until we eventually found Michel. We recorded several songs, written by Donald and Reinder; some were finished, others not so much. Donald ended up leaving and Michel switched to guitar, marking the birth of The Hooded Crow. Donald later returned and joined Michel and me in Smoke In The Cabin, a band which will be featured at a later point. This song is based on an old song that Reinder wrote back in 1992 or so, which makes it originally a Prince Of Wales song. I first re-titled it, re-worked the lyrics and recorded it during lockdown, but I was not fully happy with it, so it stayed on the shelf. Trying out some new DAWs, I went back to the song and finished it off a few months ago. The electric guitar bits are the original ones from 1992, played by Reinder. The orchestral hits were a lucky accident, and to this day, I have no idea where they came from as I found them in the midi files that I had created. I thought they worked really well, so I kept them in. The hits, the stringy synths and the vocals were recorded in 2021. This year, I recorded some acoustic guitars and programmed some more synths, but I ended up not using most of these. The drums and bass were also newly recorded. The bass lines are based on parts that were recorded by Marcel Homsma, who played with us for a few months, before Michel joined.
