The Bloodline is Reunited: Sinister Serana Arrives April 30th (Patreon)
Content
Something dark is stirring in Dimhollow Crypt, just in time for Walpurgis Night. The above is a sample using the infamous Serana line : It's so bright out here. I don't know how you stand it.
I am thrilled to announce the definitive voice overhaul for Serana. I’ve always believed the Daughters of Coldharbour should carry the weight of their ancient, grim origins. Just as I’ve given Valerica and Harkon their Romanian accents, Serana finally joins her family with a voice that truly suits a thousand-year-old noble of the undead.
The Predator’s Voice
Serana was turned in her late teens, but she has spent millennia—perhaps 5,000 years—as a vampire. By my estimate, she spent 80% of that time sealed away in the suffocating silence of Dimhollow.
She has been undead for so long that mortal morality is a distant memory. She is an apex predator, and any "charm" she possesses is simply the natural, hypnotic allure of a Master Vampire. This isn't your "Chaotic Neutral" companion. This Serana is Chaotic Evil. Even if she chooses the "cure" after defeating Harkon, she doesn't suddenly become a saint. Trading a soul for humanity is a dark business; at best, she reaches Chaotic Neutral.
A New Frame of Mind
This revoice isn't just about the accent. it’s about the soul. I don’t want a "waifu," I want a vampire. Hearing this new, sinister tone is helping me nail her "frame of mind" as I rewrite her dialogue to be more lore-focused, powerful, and intimidating.
FAQ
Aren't you a fan of Kerstyn Unger?
Huge fan! Kerstyn is a powerhouse and incredibly talented. However, in SDA, Serana leans heavily into the "waifu" archetype. For Sinister Serana, I needed a specific, darker inspiration for the writing. Redoing 500+ lines of Dawnguard dialogue with a live VA is a massive undertaking.
Kerstyn herself is actually looking forward to the SDA Patch for the Sinister Serana Diabologue Add-On.
Why this voice?
Powered by Eleven Labs V3, this voice provides incredible cinematic consistency. By using the same platform for Serana, Harkon, and Valerica, the Volkihar family finally sounds like they belong together.
Need more Caffeine?
Is the sky over Castle Volkihar always gray? Yes. Between the modding and my doctorate residency, coffee is the only thing keeping the scripts running and the ghosts at bay.
Mark your calendars for April 30th. The prophecy is unfolding, and Serana is tired of waiting.
