Sinister Serana and The Ritual (Patreon)

I’ve been looking back at where it all started. The video I’m sharing today comes from one of my early collaborations with Kerstyn for the Shadowed Court mod. While it was originally written for SDA Serana, it contains some DNA of everything I’m building now for the Harkon Diabologue Add-On (HDAO). It is the Parental Writing :P

A God of Harvests, Not Just Violations

There is a common obsession in the modding community with Molag Bal’s more... "crude" titles. Personally, I’ve always found that focus a bit "lame" and reductive. In the supernatural world, horror should be unfathomable and soul-deep, not just degrading for the sake of it.

In my work, we use his true, cosmic designation: The Harvester of Souls. This shift changes everything. It reframes the "Daughter of Coldharbour" ritual. In my interpretation, Serana wasn't a broken victim; she was a willing participant, a loyal daughter performing a duty for a family she still, despite a millennium of silence, calls "Mother" and "Father." The tragedy isn't what was done to her. It’s that she did it willingly!

The Heartbeat: A Family Reclaimed or Refused

The soul of HDAO is anchored in one of the most raw moments from vanilla Serana:

"Both of you were obsessed with your own paths... in the end, I'm still just a pawn to you, too. I want us to be a family again. But I don't know if we can ever have that. Maybe we don't deserve that kind of happiness. Maybe it isn't for us."

Harkon DIabologue Add-On is built around this specific tension. You’ll see a Harkon who is forced to confront the wreckage of his bloodline. Not through simple "regret," but through the recognition that his pursuit of the prophecy turned his only daughter into a stranger. One of the defining lines in the script captures this shift:

“[whisper] I will not pursue her, not out of pride, but because love that survives silence deserves choice, not coercion.”

Don't mind the fact I created this video as well :) One thing I will say though, defeating Harkon is pretty much a Molag Bal thing. Just saying!

Full Circle

I’m also looking at repurposing the classic dialogue from my early collaboration with Kerstyn to bridge these paths. The dialogue for the video was for SDA. I will need new dialogue for SInister Serana. For when you side with the Dawnguard (Redeemed) and create another for the Volkihar side.

We may not deserve happiness in the world of the Harvester, but we can at least choose our own path through the dark.
