So I finally converted from ENB to Community Shaders and wow that was a massive relief for my FPS and GPU.

It has vastly improved the game performance. I will test adding Reshade later.

I highly recommend it if you haven't transitioned to Community Shaders. I don't think I will ever go back to Rudy ENB.

Love Community shaders project. FYI. If you go on their git, you can download the AIO version that has all the bells and whistles you would normally download separately from nexass

Loved when I discovered Community Shaders. So many add-ons for it and its so simple to use. Reshade will give you a bit of a hit on FPS, but not like ENB did. I run Skyrim just fine with CS, Reshade, and a LOT of high res texture mods just fine on a 2080 Super and an AMD 3600X.

Don’t you guys find CS interiors too dark? Or maybe it’s just me who haven’t figured out yet a way to increase/decrease brightness…

Aye CS is very good, but fear not, it's easy to crush your FPS once again, just add more mods, especially ones with lots of clutter and you will be back to the FPS you came to know and love from ENB ... wait did you say you don't want to? What the ...^^

Depends on your lighting mod, personally I use LUX for CS, that offers several brightness level during install. (Of course being what it is, LUX is a bit of a pain as it requires all non-vanilla interiors to be patched for it, that's the nature of the beast, CS has an automated lightning mod (Light placer I think? Not 100% sure). Advantage, no patches required. Disadvantage I didn't like the look. No idea if that also allows for different brightness level indoors, been a while since I worked with it.)

can't wait to try them, just of comprehensive lighting and shadows. Need to throw away my modlist and upgrade to 1170 to do that though...

I'd love to migrate as I'm using ENB on my rtx 2070 with a lot of clutter and high res textures, but I really don't know where to begin and what all I need to uninstall, replace, and patch x.x

I'm newer to TES, and video games as a whole. So when I've played modded Skyrim I've always just played whatever old modlist my partner sends me which have always been ENB based. My partner likes things to be difficult and punishing and gritty and I'm just like let me wear cute armor and clothes while I live in my little enchanted cabin in the woods with all my forest critter friends. So for the first time I am building my own modlist, curated to my more feminine whimsical vibes. And I made the decision early on to try out Community Shaders because I have come across so many cool looking newer mods being built with it in mind. My partner has agreed to help with bug testing and patching, and he's still stuck back a million years ago in Skyrim modding, so I'm curious and excited to find out what he thinks of Community Shaders and some of the other newer mods I'm including in my list.

There is nothing wrong with using traditional mods. Just fun to also try new mods and see what happens!

I cut my ENB files and put in a seperate folder. Then installed community shaders.

I like Dark and scary 😨 one reason I bring torches. Adds that eerie feeling especially with that new spider mod.

I see. Well all CS modlists I tried were all using LUX as it’s the most popular lighting mod nowadays. One thing all the different lists had in common was that I wasn’t able to find the CS menu option to mitigate the fact they were all too dark for my taste. I understand the thrill of using torches, I also like to use them, but at least ENB gives easy sliders to adjust the brightness. That’s literally the only reason why I haven’t switched yet :D

I am in the process of moving over to Community Shaders myself. Got the base mod, Faultier's PBR Skyrim clutter and architecture and Landscape, I've always had a love/loathe relationship with lux so avoiding it and instead using Light Placer, CS Lights, True Lights, Ambient Lighting for Lighting Mods level 85 and Window Shadows Ultimate and lighting in interiors is great with those 5, perfect level of lighting, I hate when I have to use a torch or spell inside a home or other dwelling. I've not been into any caves yet so not sure how much Faultier's PBR Landscape covers, I would have to check it, but I love what I have seen so far. I need to go through my far too big multiple textures separators in mo2, got for dwemer, buildings, little things, furniture etc and disable a good few retextures in favour of PBR ones as I am a big fan of Physics Based Rendering it seems pretty genius. The weather mod is the absolutely beautiful Astralite Weathers that is so pretty without a reshade or enb, just beautiful, perfect for me as I love to make my game bright and colourful and whimsical. Been searching for more pbr conversions seeing what works and what doesn't work. Its been a fun experiment so far. My specs, hmmm, I have a custom built desktop that I've been upgrading through the years, right now I have in my very pretty Phanteks Enthoo Pro M 2 case - limited edition with a white interior, Windows 11 Home 25H2, Asus z690a motherboard, i9 12900k processor, with a cpu 2 fan radiator keeping my cpu cool, 64gb DDR4 RAM, 4060ti GPU 12gb, blu ray drive, sound card, 6 fans and a 900w PSU all in white with pink, blue, purple and teal ARGB lighting and my keyboard matches with the same colour scheme. I love my pc and the strain of my fans under the weight of Rudy for Cathedral with an old reshade from Zangdar on top of that was starting to worry me, all 3 of my gpu fans would be going pretty fast and already had to replace the main front fans once before. I am happy to be moving away from Rudy, and I really do love Astralite weathers a lot, the trade off does not bother me and Starlight, my pc is happier for it already in my testing of these new pbr textures. EDITED because I hit enter too darn early.

Modding is an experience of itself and load order building is another one. We build load orders that make us enjoy the game more. Keep up the good hunt! One of the best parts of modding skyrim is experimenting.

Amy Craig

Haha very true, I probably spend more time modding my game than actually playing it, modding the game is a game itself. I created a new profile in mo2 under the name community shaders testing so I can test all these pbr mods without long load times. Its helping, I love Faultier's PBR Skyrim mods very pretty, now on the hunt for more.

I never used an ENB. Didn't like the style. My personal preference over ENB or Community Shader is Gothic Skies "https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/171230" in case anyone else wants to check it out. It doesn't make things more graphically pretty, it makes them feel large and strange in a good way. Highly recommended.
