Do I need SDA? (Patreon)

No!

People primarily ask if compatible. Personally I will never use SDA again. It is just too much bloat. It is funny to try though.

I will stick to my Kerstyn Voiced Dawnguard and my Kerstyn Voiced SDE, AA, and SSDAO. Kerstyn is voicing these for us after all.

I love my Diabologue Add-Ons more than SDA. One reason I made them. Some have asked me to drop Syljga's accidental accent. I am like why? It shows she isnt originally from Shor's Stone.

Fair enough! The main reason I haven't given up on SDA is because A) I've yet to fully experience what content is there due to my terrible habit of modding Skyrim to oblivion (pun intended) and it breaking before I actually play through most of the mods I painstakingly install 😅) sort of the same reason with my second point B) I'm a sucker for party banter to help companions feel more alive when traveling together, like with how Ashe and Serana have a lot of lines together thanks to their specific bantar mod. And I guess eventually Aela as well since he's going to do something for her. Plus I just like romance in general I suppose 😅

I was using SDA back before Marty ever decided to make it his life. It was a fun mod back then. There was much less of the romantasy stuff; Serana was more earthy, cracked some rather funny jokes, and wasn't all that far removed from the Bethesda writings. After he switched to modding full time, I still liked the mod for quite a while afterwards. But the emphasis shifted from being a funny, smart, sassy follower to being a major romance prospect, and playing up the damage done by Molag Bal. When SDE came out, I dipped toes in the water, discovered that SDE was much more like the old SDA, and then removed SDA from my mod list. All power to Marty for building his life round SDA and Ashe, but I'm no longer interested myself. I don't mind whether Kerstyn does the full Sinister voice over or just replaces SDE; either way it's VHQ work and both fun and enjoyable. Sorry---didn't mean to post such a long response to Arc's brief comment. Guess I got carried away.

And I very much appreciate that mentality! Nothing wrong with giving people more options. If anything I feel spoiled since you offer all this content for free. Even if you do it for the love of the game and community. 🥹

I won't knock the skill and effort it took to make SDA. All of that is quite obvious. It is just not for me though. I've tried it multiple times because it is so popular and the obvious effort and skill involved. It just doesn't click with me though. That's why it is great to have many different options because even if something is great that doesn't mean it will be great for everyone all of the time.

I like selective content. Adding a feeding thing to Serana is neat but.... some like serana drinking blood potions

I think the only two reasons I still SDA is 1) Not ALL of what you're redoing with Kerstyn is done yet (unless I'm mistaken) and 2) I've been getting to the lore behind Ashe, Marty's other mod, and how heavily it integrates into SDA. Once all your revoices are done though I will almost definitely make the full jump. I will miss "Old Stone Walls" though.

We will finish Dawnguard on Monday as I got the last of the Audio today. SDE we will finish over the next few weeks. Then I can hit publish :)

Wait, the other voiced stuff is done? I can stop using SDA? I can finally get into weird streamer tech whilst trying to shill my music skills? Also, I'm in a bit of a mixed perspective of Marty's mods(both Serana, Ashe, and the combination of the two).

Are you able to use both mechanically? Is it lorebreaking/tonally inconsistent to use both? just curious.

Kerstyn is voicing and I am almost done with Kerstyn’s Dawnguard revoice. So tonally inconsistent no :)

Solid. Love what you've added with Diabologue, but also love what we seein SDA. Glad we'll be able to use both though respect those who have moved away from SDA. Thank you for you and Kerstyn's work!

I just finished a new list after about 6 month skyrim hiatus. Man, I think you've done a stellar job here with your new dialogue and revoice mods. I been injecting your mods into my lists for maybe two years now, more or less since ithelia came out i think. When it comes to SDA... idk, Im burnt by it i guess, and I've never bought the Serana good guy act. The whole wife and kids... asking me to marry her? It just never felt right - though this isn't to say I havent enjoyed SDA, because I have, just that it isn't how I felt/want serana to be. SDE is better in many ways, but it still doesn't feel quite right. Your SSDAO has been doing it for me man, it clicks. Maybe I have read too much Anne Rice, but this feels more like how a vampire should be. And while I do like Kerstyn's voice, I feel as if she already voices enough characters in my current list (morrigane, umbra, and that revenant from coldsun - never remember the name) So I am really digging your revoice too. Thank you.

Anne Rice is honestly one of my favorite vampire writers. I do draw inspiration on personality from anime bit wont make references that make people stare. The realm of vampires is vast and I took the personality traits I live. Count Strahd is one of my favorite gamer vampires also.

so are there no plans to make SSDAO compatible with SDA? I was looking forward to hearing some of these lines with some Kerstyn magic sprinkled on it (esp hearthfire elements I'm a sucker for the family stuff). Personally I will never stop using SDA esp once it gets vigilant commentary. Most of the people that still hate on it nowadays are legit the ones who used it when it first dropped calling it cringy and cheesy and never bothered to pick it back up again after all this time. Are there still some cheesy elements? Sure, but aren't most if not all custom voiced followers that have romance paths a little cheesy in some aspects? I love how SDA also handles Seranas trauma as it showcases what trauma can do to a person depending on how you handle it. If you choose to live shackled by it you will never get to experience more of what live has to offer, if you choose to accept it and try your best to move on you may realize that while the pain may always remain it doesn't hurt as bad as it did before. Does Martimius make some choices that I disagree with? Absolutely no mod maker is perfect but hey could be worse, he could be another Arthmoor.

It will have a Kerstyn Voiced patch but need to do Dawnguard, SDE and AA First. I am almost done with the Dawnguard Revoice.
