Sinister Serana – VIGILANT Quest Commentary Timeline (Patreon)
Content
Hello folks!
Some of you are probably wondering:
“Okay, Arc… you’ve announced this completely unreasonable VIGILANT project. When are we actually getting it?”
Well, good news. The madness has a battle plan. Development on Sinister Serana VIGILANT Questologue Add-On has already started.
And because apparently giving Serana commentary for one of Skyrim's largest quest mods wasn't complicated enough, we're building the whole thing around her different Dawnguard states, allegiances, and where she currently stands in her personal journey.
Because one Serana reacting to VIGILANT would have been sensible. I apparently don't do sensible.
And VIGILANT isn't happening in a vacuum, either. I'll also be working on Wheels of Lull and The Sisterhood of Dibella commentary simultaneously.
Yes. Simultaneously. No, I have not learned restraint. Arc may be a whimsical modder with an alarming relationship with scope creep... But Arc is also a modder who delivers.
So buckle up. October 1st, we descend into VIGILANT.
The Roadmap
September – FoundationCommentary philosophy, Serana characterization rules, quest/event mapping, dialogue triggers, and the enormous spreadsheet that will eventually consume my soul.
October – Act IWriting begins. Dialogue, reactions, prototype voice work, implementation, and testing.
November – Act IIOld Windhelm and Lamae commentary, with considerably heavier character writing as VIGILANT starts tightening the screws.
December – Act IIIBruiant Mansion, environmental reactions, horror pacing, and Serana increasingly wondering why she agreed to follow you anywhere.
January – Act IVColdharbour.
Memories. Bosses. History. Lore. Trauma. Endings. This is where we're going to have some serious fun with Sinister Serana.
February – IntegrationFill dialogue gaps, correct triggers, handle alternate paths, squash repetition, and discover all the horrifying ways players can break my carefully constructed logic.
March – AI Prototype PlaytestFull playthrough QA using the prototype Laura Bailey voice and my Sinister Serana Voice!
April – AI Prototype ReleaseFinal bug fixes and then... We unleash her upon Nexus Mods.
🎙️ And That Is Only Phase One
The AI version is the prototype, not the finish line. Once the VIGILANT framework is stable, tested, and released, Kerstyn and I will coordinate the next stage:
Sinister Serana Revamped: VIGILANT Quest Commentary - KerstynVoices Edition
That means taking everything we've built, refining it where necessary, and eventually replacing the prototype performance with Kerstyn Unger's human performance as Sinister Serana.
So the goal isn't simply: “Give Serana some VIGILANT commentary.”
The goal is to build a Serana who feels like she actually experienced VIGILANT with us and whose reactions change depending on which version of her you brought into that nightmare.
As a reminder I play Skyrim as well and know Vigilant by the back of my hand.
October 1st. We begin. 😈
🃏 Next Up: Cicera
Once I close the book on VIGILANT in March, development begins on the Cicera Voidylogue Add-On, with Kerstyn Unger voicing Cicera.
And amusingly, we're doing this one backwards. With Sinister Serana, we're building the AI prototype first, getting the enormous quest framework working, and eventually following it with the fully human-voiced KerstynVoices Edition.
Cicera gets the opposite treatment.
We'll develop the human-voiced Cicera version first, working directly with Kerstyn's performance as the foundation. Then, once Cicera's version is established, we'll work backwards and tackle the AI Cicero version afterward.
Serana goes: AI → Human
Cicera goes: Human → AI
Perfectly balanced. Completely reasonable.
Nothing about this development schedule should concern anyone. 😈
