Holy moly!

I genuinely can't believe we won the “Which One Is Real?” for Serana! That makes me ridiculously happy to see, and what a way to end a business trip!

But honestly, the guy thinks like how I do!

Tomorrow I'll be flying out to Minneapolis and, by some miracle of the Divines, I have a NONSTOP FLIGHT! Huzzah! ✈️

And Minneapolis to San Antonio is nonstop too.

No airport side quests. No connecting-flight boss battles. The Divines have smiled upon me.

One thing I will say is that SSDAO is still the young blood in the Serana world. SDA, Serana Dialogue Edit, and Serana Dialogue Expansion have all been around considerably longer.

Meanwhile, Sinister Serana showed up late, poured herself a goblet of blood, looked at the throne and apparently decided:

“Yes. I think I'll have that eventually.” 👑🩸

We're slowly coming for the crown!

And this has absolutely motivated me to write even more SSDAO lore and dive even deeper into the upcoming VIGILANT Quest Commentary.

What I really want to emphasize, though, is that SSDAO doesn't need to replace SDA or SDE.

In fact, I'm deliberately wrote the base SSDAO so that it can comfortably coexist with both. If you love pieces of SDA, SDE, or vanilla Serana, I don't want SSDAO marching in and declaring that everything else you've installed is suddenly wrong.

SSDAO is meant to expand Serana, not bulldoze every other interpretation of her. The Lore Expansion won't be alas as well. I think Serana views the modern Skyrim world differently then how Garmagic, Jayserpa and Marty. The lore module will have the Teleport Serana Power. I intentionally left that out of the base because that is more Lore defining.

I don't particularly care about building an elaborate outfit management system when NFF already exists and does that job perfectly well. Why reinvent the wheel just so I can proudly announce that I have... another wheel? 😂

I'd rather spend that development time on what makes Sinister Serana uniquely Sinister Serana: More dialogue. More reactions. More lore. More quest awareness. More personality. More consequences.

And, apparently, an absolutely unreasonable amount of VIGILANT commentary.

SSDAO may be the younger project... but apparently the little vampire has teeth. 🦇❤️

Which Version of Serana is Actually Canon?

Which Version of Serana is Actually Canon? The Serana Canon Debate is Officially Over The Final Judgment on Serana's True Canon Skyrim’s Biggest Lie: Which Serana is Canon? Everyone already knows Serana is the most important reason to even do the Dawnguard DLC. But most people miss the most important facts when deciding if she is good or bad. Today, we fix that. Over the last month, I have analyzed every single aspect of the dawnguard DLC. If you have been following, you now know every possible reason to pick the dawnguard, every possible reason to pick the volkihar clan, which one I would pick, every reason serana could be a villain and every reason she could be a hero. And today, I get to be the final judge as we get to decide which is the truth, so without further ado, here is how you feel about serana. I’m not going to go over every single detail of lore. Thats what the last videos were for. However, we do need to go over just a few items so we have a good baseline to work with. First and foremost, we have to understand and accept that just as the DLC story changes depending on which side you choose, so also does serana, herself, change when you make a choice of which faction to join. If you choose the volkihar clan, she’s happy to enslave the world all the way up until she realizes its her head on the chopping block. On the other hand, if you choose the Dawnguard, she’s happy to go home to see if her dad’s still crazy before going on a PR campaign to the dawnguard to improve her image so the vampire hunters dont kill her. Now, I covered this in my serana is good video last week but just for a quick recap so we’re all on the same page today, if you side with the volkihar clan, the plot of the DLC is that Serana was manipulated into going into the crypt by her mom who disagreed with Harkon’s plan but did not ask Serana’s opinion. Throughout the DLC, she has no problem pursuing Harkon’s plan until you realize that you and she will be killed at the end, at which point, you take over the plan, killing harkon and taking the prophecy, the castle and harkon’s family for yourself. It is not about defeating evil, its about becoming evil. On the other hand, if you choose the dawnguard, the story completely changes. In this version, serana knew harkon’s plan and knowingly sided with her mother to help stop him and only goes home to see if he’s still batshit before she joins you and the dawnguard to put a stop to the prophecy altogether. In this version it is at least suggested that she knows the vampires are evil and will even go as far as to give up her vampirism. In this version the game is about stopping evil, including the evil of Molag Bal, which lives on in Serana as long as she is a vampire. But which version of Serana is cannon? Well, let’s look at which version of serana is more full. In addition to the narrative changing, changing your choice in the DLC completely changes the context around Serana herself. See, throughout the story, the game kind of flirts with two ideas. Serana both likes being a vampire, feeling a sense of pride in her abilities, while also coming to recognize that if her parents had loved her for her, she might not have ever taken the path of becoming a daughter of coldharbour at all. This might be obvious, but let me just lay it out plainly so we all understand one another. There is dialogue to suggest that Serana willingly underwent the transformation because she wanted to become a powerful higher vampire, live forever, exercise dominion over mortals and even pursue the tyranny of the sun, so long as it wouldnt cost her her life. There is also dialogue to suggest that she was all but manipulated into becoming a daughter of coldharbour all so her father could usurp her power once she was done, that she never wanted any of this in the first place and would never use something like the tyranny of the sun to upset the balance of power in the world. She will willingly kill every higher vampire, leave her mother trapped and then give up her own vampirism to stop the spread of this disease. Both things are true, and, at the same time neither one is true until you choose a side in the DLC. In other words, Serana’s nature as a morally good or evil character is directly dependent on that same choice. Whether she is a manipulated little girl who is looking for someone to finally love her for who she is, or a conniving, manipulating accomplice to the hostile takeover of her family’s castle and fortune is really up to you. You do so much for your fan base. The fact that you write with others work in mind to allow everyone to really use the mods they want is amazing. Congratulations on your victory. I really like how much you expand Serana, turning her into a near human like follower. I have a question, what mod of hers will have the marriage with Vingalmo? I think both versions of Serana are good. Even her being evil, because of her intelligence. Hence she is called lawful evil in the video. When I call her good, I mean good by vampire standards. In vanilla she doesn't intentionally and mindlessly kill humans. I think if she was truly evil, she could have fulfilled the prophecy by convincing you or Harkon to sacrifice her mother. You defeat Harkon and then Serna could be the final boss as betrayal to you. In think in canon she is very loyal(even on the vampire side) to her family but isn't okay with being killed lol. Hence the Soul cairn conversation with her mother. You essentially earn her loyalty through the dawnguard saga. So, I don't think she has intentions of betraying you. I see her like Garan...She is smart and I don't think she seeks absolute power, because she knows it corrupts her...Harkon states in vanilla that all relationships eventually end and that you will betray Serna. I don't think she agrees because she is mentally healthy in the sense that she still wanted to be a family regardless.

The Volkihar Relationship Mod. We are currently trying to work out the kinks of Anbeegod's Simple Serana Marriage. After that we can do marriage for Serana, Valerica and Harkon.

I look forward to that. Now I know which mod it is. I truly love how much content you create for Serna. I really like SDA and SDE(use them on differently playthroughs). You not only create amazing mods, but astounding compatibility.
