Hello patrons!

Just a quick post to end the weekend. I have mentioned that I am slowly running out of music choices that I like. Well, as much as I hate AI stuff, with music I just have no other way right now (that I can afford). So I'm giving this a try. Seems pretty damn cool so far. But I spent quite a long time changing this damn song until I got it figured out.

Give it a listen and let me know what you think in the comments below. If you guys hate the idea of using AI to get music, I'll keep looking for new options. It's just that my sources for audio are not cheap and many others are even more expensive.

While I'm here, I did start coding Serenity C2: episode 5. First devlog will be posted later this week. Love you all! -Fire

I have heard other AI generated music in other AVNs ... this along with the others is very good. I'd have no problem with you continuing along this line considering the alternate is growing further out of reach.

didn't intend to make this post only for patrons. Sorry about that!

I Love this Song and can't even tell that AI was used to create it.

It’s crazy how far AI has come. Sounds really good!

This song is great, I will have it on a playlist. Make a video and post on youtube.

Beautifull it sounds really nice fire, on youtube there is another creator that uses ai music to create songs from the game nikke maybe you that can inspire you for more.

Damm… it sounds fantastic, and im amazed that it's ai created

Somehow I am picturing Kat singing this song, possibly with the other girls as backups, all for the MC. And of course US. The players.

I have not yet listened to it. I have several moral/ethical concerns with using AI-generated music, all of are the same I have with AI-generated art and can all boil down to this: is there concrete evidence that the original artists were properly paid for the sources used to train the AI? I personally would be much more comfortable knowing that AI-generated music was not used here, but needs must and all that. Given the current situation, and that the end product is going out for free, my concerns are not at the level where I would do anything drastic, and I imagine that within the context of the scene you will use this for it will sound just fine. I know you would have gone with non-AI music if you could have. I just wanted to get my concerns posted.

So cool song 😎

FWIW - I don't plan on going all out and using AI for all my music. But I may use 1 AI generated track every few episodes to fill in a gap. I do agree with you, but I mean... we're talking about a free AVN that is little known outside of this limited community we have here. Not minimizing my own work here, but I'm extremely small compared to what's out there. I could write a big long post on my opinions about AI and music licensing in general. Creatively speaking, I can write a story, probably not the best, but I can do that. I can pose characters, create an image, render it, etc... I can do that too. But music is tricky and extremely time consuming to do yourself when you have to write, code, render, build, etc... I have created my own music, in fact, there are several tracks in my games that I made myself using software and a midi keyboard (check the game/audio folder for: showme.mp3, fromwithin.mp3 - these are my own work). Maybe I'll try to set that up again. We'll see.

I did kind of assume this was kind of a last resort-type option. Your post where you discussed the entire kerfuffle with the music, and frankly your general demeanor as a creator, give the impression that you try to do right by your fellow creatives whenever possible. I suppose I have just become increasingly more aware of my concerns with AI-generated content recently. It kind of compelled me to say something. I am still looking forward to the next episode. I just wish the music issues hadn't led us to this point. I also kind of hope that if you can find an affordable alternative, you would go with that instead.

I do take care in creative rights and feel strongly about that myself, as I wouldn't like someone copying my work and putting it out there with their name on it. AI is in early stages right now. I'm sure in a few years, laws will be written and more guidelines will be available regarding ownership of AI generated content. Currently though, like you said, it's rather vague. In actual music creation software, there are instruments... but you have to actually write the notes. So you're creating the 'song'. When you think about it, each instrument had to have someone stroke a key or string in order to record the sound. Different I know. But this is why lines need to be drawn with AI stuff. Those two songs I mentioned that I created were done this way. I spent hours on each one. I would love to be able to do that again, but... time. Man time is a bitch.

I know another dev that wanted music in his game and the artist was happy at first then came back asking him not use it. They didn't want to be associated with this kind of thing. Also some artist are wanting to be paid like they are writing for AAA games or celebrities. So for AVN/games AI is about the easiest and cost efficient way to go. I would love to hear music by writer/singers myself, but with from what I have seen the last several yeas, it's been overpricing, mediocre work or just bias towards any entertainment that may contain adult aspects. People have forgot the fair wage for and honest days work. Now it's premium price for mediocre work. I deal with artists daily and see this every day. So I hold the position that if you use AI and admit it's AI then all is good. I know artists that use AI and take the time to fix the AI art themselves. They still say AI with work done by hand or they use AI to assist with backgrounds. All in all, as long as the person is honest admitting to AI then there should be no issues.

Whilst I agree with the sentiments in Bishop083's post, I can't really disagree with your stance, Fire. LLM's are the way forward. Heck, Agentic AI is going to kill many roles in the IT sphere, but it is my personal opinion that you are doing nothing wrong. Hell, a Microsoft backed billion dollar startup had 700 Indian engineers pretend to be an AI. At the end of the day, we all use the tools available to us at any given time. Have the LLM's harvested the current music archives? Of course they have. Is it your fault Fire? Absolutely not. Again, we pay for services, and get results. Unfortunately ethical/moral concerns for using these services is a ship long sailed. We can no longer ignore them. Sad but true. TL;DR Fire? You are not responsible for the source.

Considering how amazing the series of games is. (Easily my new found favourite replacing some I have replayed hundreds of times) I would say moving with the times and embracing the use of AI to remove some of the pressure is fully understandable. Personally I would like to see this game series continue for as long as possible so anything that helps you continue the fantastic work that you are doing is worth utilising.

my issue with ai, is that comes swipe other people's work, and they are never paid. They are basically stealing copyright content and then being released as ai work. I already know several people's who's work has been taken and used as ai art, they are absolutely fuming. The problem will only get worse as more ai crawl the web and more work is stolen because i do not know what other way to describe what is happening. Those two artists making a living making commissioned work and their work is being stolen and used by the ai crawlers.
