Did you know this cover existed? You probably didn't. But our listener Andrew did (thank you Andrew!) and so this is the latest in our new series where we review nu-metal singles, as directed by a listener. If you want to get in on this feature, donate $20 and we'll get you in the queue.

A strange curio from the Take a Bite Outta Rhyme compilation that features a cartoon dog on the cover, this was recorded in Staind's Dysfunction era, and was covered live a lot by Staind and Limp Bizkit on the 1999 Family Values Tour. It's almost insane to believe these two bands would take on such a landmark song, and it's almost more insane that Aaron Lewis raps on it. Enjoy.

Another important lyrical change: the original has the controversial "Farrakhan's a prophet and I think you ought to listen to/what he can say to you, what you ought to do is follow for now" (which was interestingly maintained in the Anthrax/Public Enemy rerecording. I say interesting because Scott Ian from Anthrax is Jewish, as am I, and I don't know how I'd feel about doing the Farrakhan line). Obviously Aaron Lewis is not going to endorse Farrakhan, so in the cover, you hear "Farrakhan's _______ and I think that you should listen to/what we can say to you is what you wanna do/ is follow for now". There's a weird blank after Farrakhan. Now, genius.com says that what Aaron Lewis says that was blanked out is "Farrakhan's a racist." I don't believe the word Aaron Lewis used was "racist," because I don't think they'd blank that out, and I have suspicions about what he did say.
