Mastering Flash Photography can be a very complex and confusing topic for many photographers who are looking to extend their skills and creativity. The Sony Alpha online manual for the HVL-F46RM and 60RM2 flashes is 99 pages long, and even this manual does not fully address some of the inherent complexities with the workflows involved, e.g., they don’t address ‘why’ it would be appropriate to choose different flash modes such as ‘Manual’ or ‘TTL’ or ‘when’ it would be appropriate to change exposure settings or ‘how’ these changes impact on the visual outcome. If you want to fully master flash photography, you really need to be prepared to read a lot of technical information and practice the workflows repeatedly until they make sense.

This 108 page eBook expands on the Flash information in the camera eBooks. It is primarily of use to Patrons who are using Sony's wireless 'RM' flashes (HVL-F28RM, HVL-F45RM, HVL-F46RM, HVL-F60RM and HVL-F60RM2) and cameras released after 2020, e.g., A1, A7IV, A7RV, A6700, A7CII, A7CR. It may also be of use to photographers using older cameras, but they will need to change settings on the flash instead of in the new External Flash Settings menu on the camera.
