Photographic Highlights from 2024 (Patreon)
Content
On behalf of myself and my admin team on the Patreon support channel we would like to wish all of you, health and happiness for this festive season and the new year to come.
As 2024 draws to a close I have taken the opportunity to create a gallery of photos that highlight some of the photo opportunities I created as a Sony Digital Imaging Ambassador and content-creator for Patreon and YouTube.
The album of 100 ultra high-definition photos can be viewed by clicking on this link: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBbUWR
The year started with me carrying out a few shoots using the A9III to test the pre-capture and the 120fps burst rate. Short movies created from the Raw stills captured with this camera are available to watch here (remember they were created using stills captured at 120fps rather than the movie function of the camera)
I also created and published the A9III CAMSET and eBook and made them available on this Patreon support channel in January.
In February I was busy reviewing a pre-production version of Sony's new FE 24-50 F2.8 G lens. The review can be watched here: https://youtu.be/bK2-WaLRSGY - I added this lens to my personal lens collection.
In March I created two Patreon Seminars. These were the 'Full-Frame or APS-C?' and 'Fixed Lens Compacts' seminars and in April I was reviewing Sony's new FE 16-25 F2.8 G lens: https://youtu.be/9P369tG2pMs as well as creating the 'Going Retro' Patreon seminar (using a Voigtlander 35mm F1.4 Manual Focus lens attached to a Techart AF Adapter). I also squeezed in an overview of Sony's Firmware 2.00/2.01 update for the A1 camera.
In June I created the 2024 Post-Production Editing seminar for Patrons. This is a Lightroom Classic editing workshop where Patrons can download the Raw files used in the demonstration/workshop. I also took the opportunity to fly to Queensland in June and visit a rainforest retreat to capture forest birds and birds in flight with the FE 300mm F2.8 and 135mm F1.8 GM Prime lenses (just before attending Sony's Australian 'Kando' event).
In July I was reviewing Sony's mark II version of the ZV-E10 camera. I also published a short video captured in my hometown Port Melbourne on a cold winter's morning here in Victoria. https://youtu.be/op31vRc1TLo - the ZV-E10 cameras will prove to be Sony's best-selling interchangeable lens E-Mount cameras, as they appeal to both vloggers and and those new to photography who are on a tight budget.
Between the month's of August to October I was travelling in Europe. During this time I released an update to my Focus Masterclass video tutorial (a Patron-only video) and also released my review of Sony's 85mm F1.4 GM II lens: https://youtu.be/ZZuLWi8A-WA - The trip culminated in the creation of my Travel Photography 2024 seminar where I highlighted the gear I chose to use on this trip (some unconventional choices as I was using two 11-year old lenses).
Just a few days after arriving back in Australia in mid October I took delivery of a pre-Production A1 II and captured images at the Australian MotoGP using the FE 300mm F2.8 GM lens + FE 70-200 F4 Macro G II and teleconverters. I also used the new A1 II camera in November to create photos of birds in Far North Queensland, to test the Pre-Capture feature of the new camera, while also reviewing the new FE 28-70 F2 GM lens.

Sony kept me very busy in 2024 and will undoubtedly do the same again in 2025 :-)
My admin team and I look forward to supporting you and the rest of the Sony Alpha Community in 2025 and we hope we can continue to bring you interesting content and a wealth of learning resources via this Patreon support channel.
Best Wishes Mark Galer and team
