A7C II and A7CR Version 2.00 Firmware Updates (Patreon)
Content
Sony released firmware updates for their A7C II and A7CR cameras on the 22nd April 2025. These updates added dozens of new features that we have seen introduced on their newer A9III and A1 II models. The two most significant of these new features are:
You can now set the Recognition Target to Auto, enabling the camera to automatically select subjects such as humans and animals, i.e., you no longer have to manually switch between targets. Note > The camera will, however, automatically prioritize humans above other targets, so you may still want to switch manually in some instances.
Dynamic Active mode has been added to the SteadyShot options for movie recording. This provides greater stability when shooting hand-held, although a slight crop factor has to be applied to achieve this level of Stabilization.

CAMSETs
When updating your camera's Firmware to Version 2.00, your saved settings will be maintained, but you may want to modify some of your registered settings for your 'Memory Recalls' (MR 1, 2 & 3) in light of these changes.
Because of these changes I will be updating my Patreon CAMSETs so that the Memory Recall settings for stills and movies use Auto Recognition instead of Human as the default setting when the shoot mode dial is moved to 1, 2 or 3.
I will also be changing the default values for the Movie Memory Recalls from Active SteadyShot to Dynamic Active SteadyShot (for increased stabilization when shooting hand-held and without a gimbal).
You can get additional help if you want to manually adjust your own registered settings by watching this video tutorial: https://youtu.be/G0uS9kBZNGY
