These images were captured using an APS-C lens (SEL 70-350 F4.5-63 G OSS) on a full-frame camera (A1). The full-frame equivalent angle-of-view is 105-525mm. The reason for using this lens on the A1 (as I already own the FE 100-400 GM and FE 200-600 G) is because it fits in a small messenger bag along with the camera and another 2 lenses, or another camera with a lens attached (A7C+ FE 85 F1.8). See the last image to compare the size of the equivalent full-frame lens.

The resulting file size when shooting in APSC-C mode on the A1 camera is 21 Megapixels. The resulting files can still be cropped further in post production if 4K files are required (8.3 Megapixels). Cropping in camera and again in post will effectively zoom in on the noise so shooting at high ISO will result in larger noise than shooting with the FE 200-600 F5.6-6.3 G OSS. The image of the Eastern Water Dragon was captured at ISO 2500 and noise reduction has been applied to the out-of-focus background.
I have previously captured images with the SEL 70-350 F4.5-63 G OSS and A7RIV at ISO values of 1250 and experienced the same levels of noise as the A1 shooting at double the ISO (2500). DXOMark recently tested the sensor of the A1 and rated its Sports Performance (signal to noise ratio) lower than the A7RIV, but in my own field tests this does not play out.
I am also critical of DXOMark labelling their Color Depth category as Portrait (a larger colour gamut is useful for capturing vivid colours found in flowers and fabrics) and their Dynamic Range category 'Landscape' (as an extreme subject brightness range is found wherever sunlight strikes white surfaces and the photographer requires detail in the shadows).
There is no substitute for field tests so beware of reviews where access to the test images is not available (I make albums of ultra high-definition images available with all of my reviews).
