The new updates to the Adobe software (Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Adobe Camera Raw, Bridge and Photoshop) now support the ARW files from the A7RV camera. I have also successfully imported the Medium and Small lossless compression Raw files.

Open your Adobe 'Creative Cloud' application to access the updates.

Hi Mark, I genuinely enjoy your site. My question is, how are you adapting your BenQ to take advantage of the new extended HDR offering from Adobe? Thank you Jed

Mark Galer

I am not currently shooting any HDR movies on my Alpha cameras (using PP10)and the BenQ needs to be connected to a HDR source before it will switch to HDR (otherwise the option will be greyed out). See my response to Tom's comment above this conversation thread. This is what the BenQ website has to say about HDR. "The monitor HDR function is triggered by input source. Enable/disable the HDR function on the input source, and monitor will automatically recognize this."

Hi Mr. Galer, have you ever tried DxO PureRaw 2, ON1, and/or Topaz DeNoise and if you’ve tried all three which do you prefer? I’ve used Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Photo AI but I sometimes feel as tho with subjects like birds it can really overdo the AI aspect. Anyway, I know you’re busy but if you can let me know your thoughts on those applications, I’d appreciate it. Thanks

Mark Galer

I have reviewed DxO Our Raw 2 and during this review I mentioned where sometimes Topaz DeNoise AI does a better job. I therefore use both. I also have to use Topaz DeNoise AI when I am reviewing new cameras and the Raw files are not yet supported by DxO. I also use Topaz DeNoise AI to suppress film grain when copying some of my old analog work (outlined in the Digitizing Film seminar). You can also find information on how I deal with noise in my Resolution and Noise seminar, which you can find in the Seminars section of this support channel. I have not felt the need to look at ON1 as the other two products do a great job.
