This is a 90-minute seminar that looks at the new Generative Fill feature developed by Adobe using its Firefly AI engine. It looks at the implications of AI for photographers and the practical application of some of the AI tools. This Seminar has a shorter 30-minute companion video. This companion video just shows the practical application of the new tool in Photoshop: https://youtu.be/6sHT5qSN3Sk

Although you may have seen some photographers completely changing the narrative of their images by adding new content to their photos or using the 'midjourney' AI engine to create completely new images from text prompts, I have drawn a line in the sand and have chosen only to use AI tools to enhance, retouch and repair my own images, but only to a point where the editing does not lead to a change in the existing narrative of the image.

The Seminar starts with a discussion that includes the range of AI tools that have become available to us and a comparison between Generative Fill and the previous Photoshop tools that we used to use to remove distracting elements and grow the canvas area (change the aspect ratio). I show many examples of how I have used Generative Fill to give you some idea of the existing strengths and weaknesses of the AI feature.

If you just want to watch the practical application of this feature be sure to check out the 30-minute supporting video, where I have just recorded the processing steps/workflows in Photoshop and mostly left out the AI discussion. https://youtu.be/6sHT5qSN3Sk
