MotoGP: Alpha 1 + FE 400mm F2.8 GM (Patreon)

Alpha 1 + FE 400mm F2.8 GM sports combination.
For ultimate quality this is the killer-combo to shoot a MotoGP Race.
My previous post from this event, was however, using the A6700 camera, often with the much smaller, lighter and cheaper 70-200 F4 G II rather than a GM lens.
As the bikes are heading straight towards me, and the background is a long way behind the bikes, I am using my default Action Recall settings (including a fast shutter speed and wide aperture).
With the fast-panning shots I am slowing the shutter speed down to between 1/500 and 1/250 second to blur the track beneath or behind the bike. Sometimes this requires the aperture to be closed down if my ISO is already at ISO 100.
Some pro shooters who are doing this every weekend can slow the shutter speed even further, while still retaining a high hit rate. It's worth noting, however, that what looks sharp on Facebook or Instagram can often appear a little soft when viewed on a large 4K monitor if the panning isn't super accurate.
Sharpness is in the eye of the beholder so claims of being able to go slower will often depend on viewing size.

You will see the EXIF data for each shot. Many of these images have been posted as 6K files so you can click to zoom in. Some are just 4K as I have done the maximum crop in post-production editing to avoid adding a Teleconverter, wherever possible.
