Great reaction :) allways been my favorite film :) The bent fin is not just because of captivity, it's seen in wild orcas too, due to environmental stress, diet, age and injury. They are still reserching this :) It's most common for the males to get this. And also you can see the differance between adult males and females orcas, female have curved dorsal fin, and males have straight dorsal fin :)

It's a real orca, ofc they also use some cgi:) Willy was played by a real orca, named Keiko, he was released yeras ago but he never foud his family :( he died in Norway, becuase he got sick, it's a docomentury about him on youtube :) also orca attacking humans happens in captivity, there have not been any reports of orca attacks on humans in the wild, some have sunk some boats, but thats humans own fault :) orcas can be dangerous like any animal can, especially if the are hunting or have babies. but they usually give warnings like, blowing bubbles under water and slapping their tail hard. you can find alot of documeterys on orcas, you should check them out :)

Concussions weren't treated as such a big deal before, either. There's something about the vulnerability involved being treated differently that sets me off.

Aw man this movie is such a nostalgia trip. I actually was lucky enough to see Keiko at the aquarium here in Oregon before he was released and although I don't support whales and such in captivity, it was incredible to be able to see how gorgeous a creature he was in person.

Lumina - The New World

I had to look up on Google if animatronics were used in some shots and apparently yes there were: Yes, animatronics were used in "Free Willy." In addition to using the real orca, Keiko, a 20-foot animatronic whale was used for many shots, particularly those involving close-up or limited movement according to IMDb and Humane Hollywood. The animatronic whale also stood in for Keiko in scenes out of the tank. The Guardian reports that a rocket launcher was even used to propel the animatronic whale during its leap to freedom

Those sea animal parks were just defamed. You take a close look at other, more recent material involving animals, especially the news; people just want to break the public relationship between people and animals, efforts at genuine, harmonious coexistence, so they can manipulate them in private. That's probably why they did Disneynature: to pave the way for literal and metaphorical image manipulation in live-action remakes like Dumbo and the Lion King. Even the horses in It Takes Two - we're lucky we still have ANY horse-drawn carriages in Central Park. You think people aren't absolutely vitriolic about it today?

TyrekeCorrea

It's sad, but Netflix has been involved in a lot of brainwashing. That's why I don't want to subscribe to them. It's tough to think about things like the ulterior motive behind the remake of The Karate Kid.

TyrekeCorrea

They don't care how Willy feels if they're making money; that's how it goes with greed, isn't it? Banging on the glass... This isn't a hockey game... It's really only just sunk in how moving the New York Liberty from Manhattan to Brooklyn now has them positionally and metaphorically caught between the Rangers - their metaphorical brothers - and the New York Islanders.

TyrekeCorrea

It seems it's suggested that human beings don't even know how to treat animals. Jesse's the same age as the boy in Pete's Dragon; he's ten.

TyrekeCorrea

Nasty things happen when people ignore what they've learned.

TyrekeCorrea

Even after this movie, people operate based on the idea that people can't take care of animals.

TyrekeCorrea

I wonder if Jesse's actor had to learn how to swim before or after he got the part.

TyrekeCorrea

Sometimes, certainly in fiction, well-meaning parents leave and don't look back because they're embarrassed, scared, and sad, because they know they can't take care of their offspring and they're hoping things will turn out better if they go a different way.

TyrekeCorrea

Maybe Jesse never called his foster parents mom and dad because they thought it wasn't necessary for him to do so in order to get across the idea of his foster parents caring, and maybe it was also because they wanted to leave open the idea of Jesse reuniting with his mother.

TyrekeCorrea

This film is so iconic; it just seems especially important that people not miss anything.

I am crying at you thinking Willy could be animatronic the whole time haha love this movie
