He's only pretending to be reticent. Inside, he's really hoping she'll go for it, despite the cost. He's often walked past the shop and wished that he could go inside, but didn't want to upset his mum. Now that it's her idea he just doesn't want to appear too keen, just for appearance sake, but actually he feels tingly all over. With no cage he's struggling not to show just how much he is enjoying the whole thing.

I don't think Mother would have to go that far with her new 'daughter', the one she really wanted now that she is a single mother and that jerky father of his pushing the poor boy into yucky boys sports is now out of the picture. Just the fact that she caught him looking into the shop windows as they walked past and having those far away eyes. I mean, just look at those legs of his, it would be a crime to hide those under yucky boys trousers. And his body ready to have breast implants too. Sometimes when mother came home from work she had a feeling he had been wearing her clothes and heels. I feel that being a maid is just one of 'his' new found freedoms. He just wants to be one of the girls after all.
