Hello Friends

Here we have the first of this years Christmas double bill.

Here featuring our favourite Aunt in all her Christmas glory, as the sweet Rev Mayfield Green pays Jane an unexpected visit.

Unexpected? I can't help but think that Jane had some inkling that gentleman who makes her heart flutter was going to call.

“It’s so good of you to drop by, Reverend. Did Andy let you know that the Merc is off the road at the moment and that he was taking Will in the Tesla to see his parents? I couldn’t very well have them going on Andy’s little bike. Not on a cold night like this. He said that he was going to try to sort me out a lift to Bible Study tonight.” “Yes, Lady Jane.” “Just Jane, please Reverend. How many times do we need to go through this?” “Well, why don't you call me Mayfield?” “I don’t know. There’s something nice about ‘Reverend’. Something formal. Something a bit severe. Something ordered. Something disciplined.” “I see you’ve got into the Christmas spirit for our last meeting of the year.” “Well, some of the Fellowship ladies had suggested fancy dress. I hope you don’t mind me coming as Santa. I hope it’s not too irreligious. I didn’t want to have to wear a beard as one of the three Wise Men, and I was hardly going to come as a Virgin.” Jane gave a slightly shy, embarrassed smile but she knew exactly what she’d said. “Not at all. Remember, Santa Claus is really a representation of Saint Nicholas. I think you’re entirely in keeping with the religious tone of Bible Study, and the spirit of Christmas. Although I do think your boots may distract some of our male members. And is that latex?” “Yes, it’s latex. I know I wear leather a lot, but I can’t have just Andy wearing latex in this house.” “Very fetching. Well Jane, I think we need to get going if we’re going to arrive on time. I can hardly be late when I’m leading the meeting.” “Yes, Reverend. And when you drop me off after the meeting, why not come in for a nightcap? I’ll do some hot toddies.
