Really enjoyed the discussion around Holden x Naomi. I very much felt the “male author” effect when I read it. I’m quite biased but I was suuuper thrown off that she supposedly fell in love with him because he’s…respectful. Respectfully though, the sentiment that any man who struggles to attract a partner must not even meet these super low standards that are, apparently, sometimes enough, is very hurtful and dismissive of a broad swath of men who may be some combination of neurodivergent, poor, socially isolated, or smothered in other ways by late stage capitalism. I’d appreciate if you would keep that in mind.
