The MCG 4K Remaster Project (Patreon)

Dear all, so much has been going on behind the scenes here at MCG, from unexpectedly losing our streaming platform last October and miraculously replacing it pretty quickly, finally moving all MCG 2.0 content over to Patreon for a better user experience, upgrading the maycontaingirl.com server to accommodate required new tech and still push quality content out every week as expected - last year was a challenge to say the least! Many of you have been asking what our plan is for the MCG Archive and I can now finally reveal everything going forward... but first I need to talk about some other important stuff...

MCG Tier price freezingDon't worry - subscription fee's aren't going up, we are looking at other ways to help us there! So since we launched MCG in 2015 subscription rates have not changed as we believe they currently represent good value over our competitors. However in the past years we have been put under pressure as all of our costs have risen around us by at least 30% - this includes all shoot production costs, server fees but especially data usage. Our movie streaming and all download costs were getting a bit unrealistic for a small business like MCG so something had to be done. The answer came to us in the unexpected form of losing our streaming platform.

The FutureWhich brings me to the actual point of this post, we have decided to remaster and enhance the entire MCG Movie Archive in 4K. For the first time, since our launch in 2015, you will be able to purchase and download MCG Archive movies in stunning detail - these movies were originally only available in low bitrate 1080 resolution streaming versions. These movies are available for all members regardless of Tier as you don't need a subscription to buy them, in doing this we hope to cover the rising production/data usage costs without increasing membership fees.

What could be better than your favourite classic MCG Archive movie with 4 x the original resolution and a bunch of other enhancements and for the first time you can download them. These movies will retail for $40 each and 3 of them are available now in our new MCG Patreon Shop. We will add a new movie every week, here's the breakdown blurb of what to expect from the remastering work and check out the examples of the improvements.

These movies have been professionally remastered in 4K. They are now high quality master versions, that have far superior depth, detail and resolution compared to the streaming originals. We went back to the original raw footage and re-analysed what we could improve on each film, removing the older more stylised grades so the original footage can shine through. The letterbox black bars have been removed where possible (some are early Red Epic footage that are baked in so those remain) so you can now enjoy up to 30% more screen space. We have updated the music and re-graded all footage for better clarity. Each movie is now running at a higher bitrate (Blu-Ray quality or higher in some cases for shorter movies) and is wrapped in a more efficient HEVC codec that provides superior visual fidelity. We have worked to reduce noise and any compression artefacts.

We are really proud of the body of work MCG has created over the last 10 years and feel this is a great way to continue that legacy - we hope you enjoy some of your favourite movies now in incredible extra detail and resolution and by doing so help us continue creating this content - all the best Rufus
