Well, here it is. The end of the show. And I did not hate it.

Overall, I thought it was... fine. It could have (and should have) been a lot better, but it was more entertaining than the dross we've been slogging through for the rest of the season. But man, I really wanted some fucked up gory stuff.

Topher 🤪

I kept expecting a small reveal that Ryan still had his powers. I’d been thinking all along that Kimiko’s chest blast wouldn’t affect him the same way, because Ryan’s powers are inherited from Homelander. He doesn’t have Compound V in his system in the usual way, so there might not be anything to neutralize. But I guess that’s just the writer in me plotting my own head canon. And yes, Soldier Boy is getting his own spin-off, but it’s a prequel about the early days of Vought, with Stormfront involved too. The Boys universe also seems to be hinting at more spin-offs down the line. While this wrap-up wasn’t as completely engrossing as I’d hoped, it was far more coherent and satisfying than I expected, especially given the direction of the season and the sheer number of loose ends floating around. Even in its final stretch, The Boys is still better than most of the abysmal small-screen sludge passing for television right now.
