He's just too sweet for the amount of damage he inflicts...

🥳Hooray for your 100th movie reaction! ...and your first hockey related thing you watched on the channel! 🥳 Nice to see you had a great time with another one of my favorites for my birthday. Speaking of my birthday...wouldn't you know who played Doug's friend? The same guy who played Windows in the movie Fanboys which was my birthday pick last year (because if there's one thing you know about me, I generally have my recommendations connected in some way or another) 🙂 That last fight definitely was exaggerated in so far that it would have been stopped when Doug got dropped unless Doug got up within a fraction of a second (as in before the refs could break it up) and was swinging back. There definitely would be no instance of the player telling the ref "Don't you fucking dare" then the ref doing nothing; that definitely wouldn't fly. The refs will also break up a fight if a player lands several hard shots in a row without any retaliation. But yes, players are allowed to hash things out with mutually agreed upon fisticuffs with the gloves off in a reasonable timeframe. Another bit of exaggeration was when Doug blocked that shot with his face and was laid out in front of the goal. Based on my understanding of the rules play is supposed to be stopped in the event of an injury unless a team has an immediate scoring chance (which they took and failed to score with by smacking the puck into Doug's face when he was laying there). They get that one immediate chance then that's it, let's get the injured player off the ice. This movie's emphasis on fighting isn't really reflective on modern hockey; fighting is maybe but a scant few percent of the sport these days. The vast majority of hockey is a fast-paced display of teams trying get the puck in the opponent's net and keep it out of theirs and it's fucking excellent. It's easily my favorite sport (I say this as an American which has people like "what do you mean (American) football, basketball or baseball isn't your favorite sport? 🤯") I'd honestly would recommend watching a hockey game at some point. Maybe not watching entire games right now because I get your free time is at a premium but perhaps picking a team that you like the logo/colors of or is in a location you have some loyalty to (or you could follow the Los Angelese Kings like me and Will Ferrell👀) and catching their game highlights could be a fun way for you to get into hockey at this juncture. Come for the potential of grown men partaking in mutually agreed upon bare knuckle fist fights, stay for the exciting sport that the rest of hockey actually is. The new season is starting up here in a few days so it's a good a time as any to start following. 😏 That one hockey show with the gay guys is that you said you watched but couldn't remember the name of called "Heated Rivalry". Not necessarily my thing. It's a little too much romance and not enough hockey for my liking. 😅
