I always get a little chill when "The Lonely Man" (theme music from the late 70's/early 80's "The Incredible Hulk" TV series) kicks in at the end of the scene with Abed and Troy that leads into Jeff hitchhiking by the side of the road.

Since they don't include the whole set of lyrics which explain why the singer hasn't killed himself yet, I feel like it should be taken a little out of context from the suicide aspect. I see it as describing the scenario they are in - an unlikely group relationship that has no business surviving, and is constantly whittling away at itself, or being attacked from the outside, yet it somehow keeps going. And, in that way, I find it inspiring.

Yeah, Dan definitely wanted to put that morbid touch on things. He's a realist who doesn't waste time and energy on pretending something is what it isn't.

"An analogy is like a thought with another thought's hat on" has got to be the best analogy for analogies I've ever heard. I know that Britta is supposed to be the worst, but saying things like that actually makes her the best. Also, in the second episode, she was being a really good friend to Jeff, and actually a competent therapist. And boy, doesn't she look amazing as Michael Jackson?
