He really built that robot to make Morty feel more loved, that's still growth.

What should I react to next? What's coming in 2023?

Firefly. It is only one season so it wouldn't take long to go through. Hopefully watch the movie Serenity afterwards as it was essentially made to wrap up the show which was cancelled prematurely.

Cassiopeia

Loved the reaction! The Last of Us could be a good show to react to! It's based on the game and it comes out in January. It starts Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay and also features Storm Reid who plays Gia on Euphoria

Haha, don't listen to the President about Star Wars. Just because him or Rick rants about something, it doesn't mean they are right. :D I really enjoyed House Of The Dragon. I will suggest again the Watchmen TV series. Only nine episodes!

As for another show to react to now that this season of Rick and Morty is done might I recommend the Harley Quinn animated series for this time slot? It has a similar-ish tone in so far that it's vulgar, violent and hilarious. It's good enough that despite HBO/Discovery/whoever the hell else is involved decided to purge and cancel a crap ton of animated content they actually went ahead and approved it for another season.

Nutty 0xC19

Unfortunately! The prequels (episodes 1-3) were hated on until the sequels (episodes 7-9) were released and then suddenly the prequels were considered 'good'!

react to Bojack Horseman u will like it

I second Bojack Horseman. It's in the niche you're building and is in your type of smart very dark comedy.

Does it need to be new? My favorite shows that pop to mind are: Keen Eddie, Life, Psych, and Farscape. -"Keen Eddie" is only 13 episodes; it's kind of a traditional show but the writing, stylistic choices, and chemistry of the actors elevate it for me. It's probably not popular enough, but it's really fun. A New York detective follows a case to England, ends up staying there. Fish-out-of-water, his flatmate is a woman and you know exactly how that arc goes, but it's just a very satisfying, fun, well-written show. The concept is basic, perhaps, but the execution is not.

Eric

Cool. Now that you point it out, honestly I should probably just write them in separate comments so that people can (hopefully) upvote specific shows. I'll try to remember that for next time. (Or maybe I'll repost on here later, taking your advice on formatting. But I'm too lazy to do it right now.)

If you haven't seen it, i think "Futurama" is fun. It takes place in the future and could be considered a mix of the Simpsons and rick and morty. Or Sci Fi in general. In case you don't like the Simpsons all to much don't worry, Its much better than the Simpsons ever were in my opinion, and much more mature. It feels mostly episodic but there is Character development and some kind of continuous plot.

Life was great show. Think I plugged it here once.

-"Life" likewise may not be popular enough, but I'll make the case nonetheless. 2 seasons: a cop wrongfully sentenced to life, has his sentence overturned upon appeal after 17 (ish?) years, goes back to being a cop. Again, excellent writing, it's much better than the premise might make it seem (solid premise but I'd guess anybody would think it a formulaic procedural based on that description, which... it has elements of that but great execution elevates it, particularly good writing and dialogue ditto); great cast: Damian Lewis (of Homeland, Billions, among others) plays the main character Charlie Crews, his partner is played by Sarah Shahi (The L Word, Black Adam). Lots of people from Deadwood, my dad and brother (both of whom watched it) have told me.

Eric

-"Farscape" is a show I think anybody who liked Firefly would like, although it's much more of a traditional sci-fi. An astronaut gets sucked into a wormhole, flung into a place where aliens exist (not sure if the show ever tells you if he travels over a distance or time, or both). I like it a lot better than Firefly, I think there are so many great ideas, relationships... the main character is maybe my favorite sci-fi hero of all-time; a great ensemble show. Unlike Firefly, it takes a while to get started though; the first half (or so) of season 1 are mostly stand-alone episodes, it's not until pretty late in the 1st season that the main conflict is introduced. Some of the early episodes are still really good, IMO, but it doesn't hit the ground running like Firefly, to be fair. 4 seasons, plus 2 movies; each season is 22 or so episodes, so... it's a time commitment. (If you like it that's a great thing, but if you're unsure, I can understand why it might be daunting.) I think it's significantly more popular than the previous 2 shows I mentioned, but probably not on a level of Firefly. Maybe though? Hard to tell. Because Whedon got big on the Avengers, that kind of gave Firefly fans visibility in a way I don't think happened for Farscape (it influenced Guardians of the Galaxy - Ben Browder, the main character, was actually in GotG2 - but James Gunn didn't work on Farscape, he's just a fan apparently).

Eric

-"Psych" a kid is trained by his dad to be particularly observant because his dad, a cop, is raising him to be a cop. He's a goof-off though, so doesn't really end up holding down any job for long. Until events led to him pretending to be a psychic. It's like "The Mentalist" if only it were good, and very funny. Shawn and Gus are among the best friendship/duos in tv history. It's... 7 seasons? The first 4 or 5 are really great; the final few are good but not on the same level, IMO.

Eric

-"Veronica Mars" Kristen Bell's breakout performance (they poked fun at it in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"). Similar in concept to "Psych", I guess, in that her dad was the Sheriff, then becomes a PI and she picks up skills, applies them in her life. It's not an outright comedy like Psych is, but it has funny moments. Most of the episodes are very good, with good cases; there are individual cases for each episode, plus a season-long mystery. 3 seasons, plus one movie. One of my favorite quotes about it, from Stephen King: "Why is 'Veronica Mars' so good? It bears little resemblance to life as I know it, but I can't take my eyes off the damn thing." (If you watch, and enjoy, "Veronica Mars" then an excellent follow-up would be "Party Down", by a lot of the same people, with a lot of the cast guest starring; 2 seasons, 7 episodes a season I believe? So, it's easily digestible. But I'm getting ahead of myself.)

Eric

Finally, I'll throw out "Dexter". The first 2 seasons were really great, IMO, but the 5th and final season was incredible. I'm bummed out they never made a 6th season because there were some great elements in 5 that I expected to see explored in 6, but... oh well Dexter is an interesting character, it's a really interesting, fun show, and his sister is one of my favorite female characters in tv history. Her growth from season 1 through season 5 is definitely the best, most satisfying arc for a woman in a tv show I've ever seen.
