Straight from the Binge Watchers tier, we have the first recommendation of the month. Gotta say I loved it and I loved all the slow motion involved.

So psyched that you're watching this! I've watched the entire series multiple times-it's one of my favorite shows. It's easily one of if not the most creative, wild TV shows I've ever seen. It's absolutely gorgeous and insane!

It was surreal watching this while having an ongoing conversation via messages. I was hoping your reaction would be what it was. You are supposed to be confused at this point. Mr. robot and maybe preacher are the only semi recent shows that I can think of that put so much trust in their audience to hang in there and figure things out.

So glad you recommended this-it's still one of my favorite shows and as a crazy artist I just love the artistic insanity of the whole series. And while I haven't watched Mr Robot yet I agree on Preacher-also great. But this in particular will leave you confused at first and you'll figure it out as you go along, but it will continue to be crazy.

Which is why I lumped it in with Dirk Gently even though they're entirely different tones they are a master class in confusion, as long as such shows stick the landing they are always among my favorites.

Yes-very few off-beat shows get the time beyond one season to breathe and really do the slow burn in displaying their story and creativeness but every once in a while they do and when they do it turns into something incredible.

What was the show with the fairy (winged humans) folk living in 1920s type feel with humans. I remember thinking that was about to catch fire when they nixed it. And The Nevers had such promise until they lobotomized it. The Expanse comes to mind too, but more for the sheer complexity of the moving parts than confusion.

SO... 1 - I truly HATE the whole "I don't like to be touched" thing is unexplored until the end. My *first* question would be "is that a skin-to-skin thing, or even touched where you're clothed? Because the way you zip up your sweater (?), seems like the latter." But David never asks that VERY important question. (Maybe I'm ahead of him in an unfair way because I'm familiar with Rogue, but... c'mon.) 2 - I never ended up finishing even the first season, so the show clearly didn't grab me... but I don't know what's "missing" because it's not just objectively good, I very much enjoyed it. Maybe it's just my ADHD; when a show demands your full attention, it's hard for me to watch no matter how good it is. I like it when I can give at least 10% of my attention to another thing. And yeah, I really like how the show really doesn't over-explain, it doesn't treat its audience like we're stupid. It's comfortable being confusing and weird and trippy. 3 - Bummer they didn't get Patrick Stewart (as far as I know they didn't. Maybe season 2?)

You’re probably thinking of Carnival Row.

Topher 🤪

Thank you. ChatGPT was down yesterday and I've forgotten how worthless normal web searches are for that type of question. That was indeed what I was thinking of. Not exactly in the same caliber ss the other shows but worth watching.

Funnily enough I couldn’t remember the name of the show either but still knew the main cast. And since I had no idea how to spell “Delevingne”, I looked it up under Orlando Bloom. 😁

Topher 🤪

I couldn't remember any of the cast. I kept getting blocked by the Nevers when I tried to recall it. I blame my melting brain. Just typed my original question into chat GPT, which is working again, and it nailed it straight off the bat.

Please no spoilers

Eric

I know it's difficult to talk about because even acknowledging it flirts with spoilers, but I think I can do it: do you think (3) was a spoiler? Because I really don't think it is; it's really obtuse and I'm also not even sure it's true...
