[ENGLISH]

I'm aware the latest chapters of the comic are being quite dramatic. When I revised the story I had written in 2012 and rewrote the whole thing to finally start this comic, I was super excited about this arc because of the drama, because I wanted to make an impact on readers the same way I've been impacted by other stories I have read. However, what I did not foresee was the fact this might affect my readers on a deeper level than I anticipated.

I was told that I should have put a warning. Around chapter 13/14 I kept saying "this is the calm before the storm", "drama is coming", but I understand that's not 100% a warning.

The problem is that if Ethan is dead for real, putting a warning anywhere at the beginning of the series would have been a huge spoiler and it would have made readers expect something, destroying the emotional impact of reading it without expecting it. But if Ethan is not actually dead, there's no warning I could write, saying anything would be like spoiling he's not dead, thus making the story less interesting.

So as a writer, what am I meant to do? What's the right thing to do? I wrote this story with tons of love and I was eager to share it with readers, but the more the story advances, the more stress it's starting to give me, because I know when I post these chapters on Webtoon I'm going to lose many readers and get ratebombed even harder.

All I can say is that I like drama (heavy drama) but I also like happy endings. So is there a chance Ethan is still alive? Yes, there is. But there is also a chance he isn't. As a reader and as a supporter you have every right to decide whether this is a story you want to read or not, whether the uncertainty is too much for you or not, whether you want to lose hope or keep hoping Ethan will come back. I respect your decision no matter what, as it can't be any other way.

Thank you for your time. I will keep working hard for those who decide to stay and read this story that means so much to me.

I appreciate you sharing your work. If Ethan is dead, I'll be sad because he was my favourite little bear, but it's not my story. You know how it'll go and I appreciate staying along for the journey. Even if it hurts a little 😭😆

It's sad how some people can make you feel this way about a story you put so much care, effort and love to write for you and for us. I understand some people aren't always willing to read dramatic stories but I think you were careful enough with your messages without spoiling the story. I personally think you're doing it as best as you can. If it's worth anything, I love how the story is turning with bigger stakes than before. Its making it more impactful and I can't wait to read what will happen next.

Lily

Write the story you want to write, don't worry about what the readers think <3

I’m sorry people are making you feel so bad about the story! ❤️ You don’t need to add any kind of warnings about a character death to your story. That’s silly and I’m not sure why people expect it. There have been many characters in comics I’ve read and full length books I’ve read where characters I love have died. Is it sad, of course but that’s how the author wanted to write the story. I don’t go online questioning the author about their choices. I think it’s perfectly OK that people are saying they’re sad about Ethan, but it’s not OK telling you that there should’ve been a warning about a characters death. Whether Ethan dies or not, I will continue enjoying the story! Thank you for bringing your stories to life for us ❤️

I have no idea how Webtoon works, but is it possible to add a drama tag? If not, can you add tags to the bio? "But maybe something else too...? #fantasy #romance #drama" Feel like popping that tag somewhere should be enough to cover you. But I'm with everyone else, it's YOUR story. Kill off whoever you want! Or let them live! You're the author, you decide their fate. We're all just along for the ride.

Nicole

Please! If people are that upset over a potential death and needs cautions/ warnings, they need to leave the Fandom, don't watch movies and tv series, and don't read books. We knew this was a possibility once the ceiling fell on Ethan. Do we want to see him hurt/die? No! However, Life happens, even to fictional characters. It makes us chomp at the bit for the next update. Keep doing what you're doing. Your story telling is wonderful, your art is absolutely beautiful, and don't let those who leave or out complain put you down. You don't need them. We support and love you and your characters (with exceptions 🫢😉) ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm sorry some readers make you feel this way and as a writer myself, I can understand where you're coming from. I think that emotional impact is important and that the possibility of spoiling the ending should be considered. What I see a lot of artists on webtoon do is putting a general warning like "This chapter depicts potential loss" or something like that. Maybe that's something you can work with too since it won't spoil too much and still keeps people interested. It works for me at least, haha.

This is your story Inma, you keep writing and don’t worry about us. Those of us that stay, love and support your creativity! Wherever you decide to go from here should not matter to us.

Sabine

Personally, I like drama, but especially when the endings are happy. When I read, it's to entertain myself, I like to worry about the heroes and then feel the relief of the happy ending, I like to end with a positive feeling, because I think that there are enough unhappy endings in real life. However, if everything always ends well, then in fact there is no longer as much suspense or emotion. It's true. So readers like me can be fine with dramatic events, as long as the story isn't all drama. Especially since a single event does not color the whole story, we can also very well remain with a bittersweet emotion. I don't know if you need to put a warning or otherwise categorize the story, but there can be a "dramatic events" warning without it really ending badly and so without spoiling too much, I don't really know how much people need that. Sorry, I don't really have an opinion on that. An author cannot satisfy all readers, it is impossible. Inma, what story do you want to tell us? What feelings do you want us to experience? These are perhaps the main questions. I'm sure that readers who like your work won't leave you just because they don't like an event in the story. Your work is magnificent, the drawings themselves convey a lot of emotion, I really like them! Be yourself in your writings ! Thank you for sharing your stories with us.

Viviane

I will stay no mater what, because I love this story with all my heart ❤️ Again, Im here for your story Imna and I think you did it wonderful!! Sorry for all the readers that canot understand this:( Youre amazing, and I hope you will feel better! Your story is so well written, dont forget that!! ❤️❤️❤️

Bella

Don’t worry too much on the reactions of the readers, Inma! Those who are truly invested will stay no matter where the plot goes and the lack of “official warning” (even tho I personally think you warned us plenty)! I for one love lots of drama too and thought this part of the story perfectly invests the audience even more due to our emotional ties to the characters! You’re so much more brilliant than you give yourself credit for and the ambiguity of what will happen at this point in the story is what keeps us wanting more!! We’ll rejoice or mourn based on what happens to Ethan but still love the story!❤️

Cas

Inma, I would like to apologize, as I was one of the people who had a strong reaction and even mentioned wishing there was some sort of warning. I’m a very emotional person, but that’s my problem, and no one needs to cater to me. I’ve read several books that I know have tragedies and have topics that I know will upset me, and I still choose to read them. As a queer person, I find a lot of joy and comfort in reading lgbtq+ comics/stories that have happy endings where everything works out because I’ve dealt with experiences that don’t end the same way. When I’ve read other comics in the past, I never engaged with the author, and selfishly never considered their feelings when they create these stories. I’ve followed you for a few years now and I’ve been a patron on and off (when I can afford it) for several years as well, and it has been really really cool to interact and get to know you as an author throughout these stories and reading your thoughts and feelings with each page that comes out. So I’m very sorry for how I’ve reacted and the dramatic comments I have left the last few updates, I had forgotten and ignored the fact that a real person is putting so much love and attention to a story they’ve created, and didn’t consider how those comments would make you feel. Will I and many others be devastated if Ethan is really dead? Of course. But that doesn’t make this story any less amazing. And you’re right, you did give warnings, and I and some others either ignored it, forgot about it, or weren’t expecting things to turn out this way, but that is not your problem. No matter what happens, I will continue to read and follow you and read more of your stories in the future. I’m sorry for the negative reactions you have gotten Inma, your ability to create such a reaction out of people proves you’re an amazing story teller, and that is what should be acknowledged more than anything. Thank you for everything that you do <3

I don't think there is any point to a warning for this honestly. You set it up when the house set on fire. That expectation, of someone dying or getting hurt, was set when Nazka ran in and got Ragnar out. A little bit of drama is great for a series and I think you're doing it wonderfully. If people need that reassurance that this is just drama or need a warning of calm before the storm, to me at least, means you have made a powerful story with characters we love. We want to make sure they are going to be ok. But that's the great part about stories like these, it just hits you. I'll be truly sad if Ethan is really dead, I loved that bear, but I understand that's how life works. I'm sorry you have to keep explaining yourself, honestly this is one of the best stories I've ever read. You're doing fantastic and I can't wait to see the next part. 💕

Kat

I don't think you should worry so much about readers' comments on various chapters. You are writing a great story, and that story might not be for everyone, but that is okay. When a story stays true to itself, it has much more impact and perseveres long-term. While plots that cater to an audience may be popular short-term, enduring work usually has both strong lovers and strong haters among the readership. Ethan is my favorite character design, visually, so I will be very sad if he doesn't make it, but it wouldn't make me enjoy the story you are telling any less than I do. I respect an author who isn't afraid to let darkness and disappointment creep into the plot from time to time. In fact, some of my favorite shows, manga, books, songs, etc., break my heart repeatedly. I look forward to whatever comes next - even if it makes me cry.

I think the issue comes down to setting the tone for a certain kind of story. The tone of this comic is kind of fluffy with some amount of drama, but with an ultimately happy resolution. Tone is set at the very beginning of a story and involves art style, as well as narrative hints (foreshadowing etc.). Compare this comic's art stye to something like Berserk or Attack on Titan. For the latter two comics readers expect tragedy and drama, because the tone is set for that and are therefore not disappointed when it happens. For a comic with a cute (and very beautiful!) art style with pink as a prominently used color the tone goes more into the direction of Sailor Moon or other similar comics. So drama is possible, but actual serious consequences don't happen and everyone gets a happy ending (excepts villains). Aside from the art style there was no indication that Ethan and Skye were going to face any more difficulties, especially not something of this level. The expectation for them was to live happily ever after. Some foreshadowing within the story could have helped. Like some ominous undertones to their happy scenes. Readers expect things within the range the tone has set. A character like Ethan dying does not fit within the tone this comic has set. That being said, thank you for posting this comic and for working so hard on it. I will keep reading and supporting this comic and I think a lot of readers will do the same. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this story.

He leído bastantes historias y he visto morir a personajes que me gustaban. ¿Joroba?

Bec

As cliche as it sounds... Try not to worry too much! Write the story how you want to! I think most of the comments were kind of knee jerk reactions and takes of humour to make them feel better. I saw one comment saying, "if Ethan dies I'm leaving" and quite a few along the lines of "a warning next time would be nice", which I laughed at when I saw cuz I don't think any of those people are serious, they're just saying the first thing that popped into their minds before they immediately anticipate the next update. It obviously sucks that these comments have made you feel this way, you don't deserve that at all. But I also doubt many of your followers will actually drop the story, we all respect you and your story way too much. Just write the story how you like it and forget what others are saying (which I know is easier said than done) because we're going to stay by your side no matter what! 🫶

Society has changed to be more sensitive and provide warnings when there are incidents that could trigger a negative emotional reaction. I usually expect it for assault. Sorry you're getting negative comments.

Heather Faulkner

I think it is ridiculous that people complain about such a thing. There are so many more stories that are way more dramatic and intense than yours. While I will admit to having a hard time with the Ethan part, I understand it and power part it can play if he is alive or if he is dead. People like being trolls and being negative. I love your stories. ❤️

Amy Cargos-Morowitz

At first I was really sad about where the story was going, because I’m such a sucker for happy endings as well. But the more I think about it, no, this story is perfect as it is and how it’s progressing! Drama and trials of the heart and mind make for good story telling; which is what you are doing, Inma! You’re right, a warning would have potentially spoiled so much and is unnecessary. If people rate bomb you for this, then they are all idiots. You deserve all the praise for your art and story telling. Tune out the negative comments. Better yet, your patrons will throw them all of a cliff. Keep writing your stories the way you want to. And we will read them always. 💖

For me, everything you do is okay. As you said it is your blood, sweat and love what you are presenting to us and i respect you soooo damn much for drawing this story regularly and straight forward while you get bad feelings about it by the followers on Webtoon. First I thought "than quit Webtoon for your own sake and only stay with us because we love you no matter what" but I think it is part of your income what is also very important so.. everything you do I stay with you and accept everything. 💖🫂
