Izumi and Sara's dad has a heavy undiagnosed ADHD disorder, and Hana has done what she could all her life to take care of her family. Did she make the right choices? Was there any right choice at all? I guess that depends on who you ask. For me it's a very gray area. But I really enjoyed writing this chapter to explore what it was like for Izumi and Kei to grow up within such a family and how the lack of any parent figure influenced them to become who they are today.

I had a feeling about the dad. That's a tricky situation for all involved. It's good that they're having this conversation though.

I’m pretty sure Hana’s therapist never told her she was a bad mom. That’s her guilt talking. And I’m not sure if this is what’s going to happen, but I’m a little nervous Izumi is going to blow up at his mom like he did Demian’s mom. 😰

They needed this conservation and I'm glad she went to therapy since it can be a hard step

oof, the parent with an undiagnosed disorder is something that hits close to home. i suspect that my mom is autistic—amongst other things, she has these MASSIVE blow-ups when she's upset or overstimulated. my maternal grandfather was the same way. but she won't consider the possibility because of the stigma associated with mental conditions in her generation. me and both of my siblings are diagnosed with adhd/autism/both, and we're getting help so we can hopefully break the cycle. i love the way you're tackling this issue, and i'm glad you're including the nuances that make it so difficult.
