Sometimes I wonder if there really is a correct way of acting in a situation like that. On the one hand, I think it's awful to try to force people into abandoning their dreams for their own safety because, among other things, you never know if it would go well for them or not. On the other hand, I understand wanting someone you love to be safe. I guess the middle point is best: explain all your knowledge and fears, but don't be mad or suffer if the other person makes their own choices. In the end it's their own life, so it's up to them to choose what to do with it.
