Peeeeeak! What I love is that the power is totally suited for luffy but also if it had been the gum gum fruit then an awakened gum gum would allow him to turn his environment rubber like how don flamingo could do with string. But this is just next level the implications are huge! Love G5

Sam

Just an FYI, Sengoku also has a Zoan Human-Human Mythical type fruit (Giant gold Buddha)

TheSolitaryX

I CAUGHT UP FOR THIS MOMENT AFTER BEING BEHIND FOR A MONTH LETS GOOOOOOO

Eli Gamarra

OOOOOOOHHHHHH ITS STILL SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD

SynteX

joyboy didnt take over luffy's body , its an awakening of devil fruit just like joyboy did , and zunesha remembered joyboy.

Eli Gamarra

Regarding your post-episode discussion, Sengoku has a Human-Human Fruit, Mythical Type, Model: Buddha. In terms of the art and production of Gear 5, I'm pretty sure everyone who read the manga LOVED how the abilities are portrayed. Oda designed Gear 5 to be as goofy as possible, but powerful at the same time. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I remember hearing that Toei partnered with Warner Bros to do these episodes. The only people who might have been a little dissatisfied are some anime-only watchers, but they all come around eventually.

Gear Five hits the same everytime I watch someone react to it as it did the first time I watched myself. Truly Peak

Sydel Afonso

Ahh we made it to gear 5!! 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁

Sekki

Manga Luffy is also very goofy in Gear 5. Oda really created a unique power up and he knew that not all people would love this, but it is his story and his characters. All other Shonen MCs have such cool and edgy looking power ups and then there is Luffy...laughing is ass off while fighting someone. Truly my goat

Drakojin

Just to emphasize, yes oda made g5 just as goofy in the Manga. Obviously some things more pronounced in the animation, like the bouncy floor. But e. G. the eye popping was 1to1 manga Regarding toons: yugioh taught as that they aren't all mighty/powerful. But as the elder said, "most ridiculous" :) (not most powerful)

HELL YEA THE WAIT FOR THIS WAS WORTH IT

Making people smile was always Luffys thing... since Episode 1. And now we know why he is not only immune to lightning but also highly resistant to fire... big mom wondered about that when she hit him with fire. By the way i dont believe for a second that shanks did not know what fruit it really was... the government tried to get it for 800 years and when they finally got hold of it, it was snatched away by shanks... never ever is this a coincidence

Let's goo! 🥁 🥁 🥁

🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 . btw , when sanji feels luffy awakening its a omage to wyper waking up to the drums at the end of skypea, the first mention of nika and his pose and dance . And overtaken always has drums , now its an awaken version of hit thanks to luffy peak from xD. And yes we saw a human human fruit eaten by a human : sengoku ate the human human fruit model budha

DubwoolWooloo

Sengoku has a human- human fruit

_Kiing

Luffy basically has tune force😅

Lucille Waters

The internet was going nuts back then when Gear 5 was introduced. xD It was a great time! I still remeber that a lot of poeple didn't like the goofyness, but a lot of them did. Over time the voices that didn't like it became less and less.

I remember back in Punk Hazard, when Luffy met Momonosuke for the first time and he was in his dragon form. Luffy told him to turn back to human and Momo asked "how do I do it?", then Luffy said "Idk, I'm not a Zoan..." Ok Luffy, explain that now you MF 😂

Peter Butchens

[3:00] Same it blew up so much, that it spoiled me to hilarious amounts, before I even got back into one piece through your channel. So it wasn't really a surprise. But seeing it unfold was still very intense, with the amazing drum BGM and this insane power up animation. Now let's see if it can live up to the hype. [14:35] Bruh. This isn't just rubber + God powerup - it's almost like reality bending, with the bouncy floor and all of THAT. Hax indeed. And then it get's all goofy, but there are absolutely terrifying moments like [17:49] I mean, even with spoiler I'm still like - what the heck is going on.

Master Awai

I need fries for this LOL.

Fleet admiral Sengoku A.d. had a human human fruit (probably also mythical) model Buddha

Sideeffect, all the "powerscalers" trying to powerscale the big 3 to Son Goku will have a easy way out now since Toriyama himself said multiple times that "toon/gag" characters are stronger then Goku (Arale splitting the planet by accident ect.) I think thats also kinda hilarious throwing a wrench into that kind of discussions

Nigos The Titan

Yeah I'm gonna be fiending for the next few episodes like crack for sure.

Rick Baron

There has been foreshadowing since alabasta, when luffy finally arrived to catch vivi he appeared as if coming from the sun, in skypea, in the noland flashback the Shandians were performing sacrifices to the Sun God, also all the skypeans were praying for someone to save them from Enel, and then came luffy basically dethroning the false god, With each gear, the "steam" coming out of luffy's body loosely took the form of the flowy silk scarfs gods are depicted within asian cultures finally becoming a solid object in gear 5, The appearance of gear 4 is heavily inspired by gods of cultures in the Pacific islands

Rick Baron

In real life there's a book called "Encyclopedia of things that never were" published in 1985 which contains myths and folklore from all cultures around the world, it mentions a myth known amongst west african slaves in the Caribbean around the 17th century called Joyboy (probably where Oda got inspiration): the myth says: "The west indian character who personifies the human need to dance, sing, and jubilate..." "...Joyboy smiles perpetually at all the foibes and problems of mankind and cures human troubles by tapping out an irresistible rhythm on his drum. Whoever hears the music of Joyboy is compelled to dance and sing along until he or she has shaken the black cloak of despair from the shoulders..."

SuperCookie 23

I’m back from work and now I can finally watch peak 🥹🥹🥹

Sonson O.

Now I’m curious what model does Chopper’s Human-human fruit had? Is it just plain human-human fruit or does it also has a model type just like Sengoku and Luffy? 🤔

soulieproud

We're finally in the Tom and Jerry Piece xD, so glad you guys like gear 5, some people have a problem with it being too goofy. I absolutely love it though, it's so fun to look at, it's so special, and it fits Luffy's character so well with all the themes of pursuing freedom and stuff. I'm really glad that Oda didn't make Luffy's final form something edgy and badass, it's so refreshing to have something like gear 5, which can be so many things at once, including being a menace to his enemies, you can literally see something unhinged about this form. And the fights... They have so much potential and unpredictability, the animators can go fucking crazy animating gear 5 ridiculous moves also fun fact: Luffy's heart beats in the exact rhythm of the "Drums of Liberation", that's why he said that his heartbeat "sounds funny"

Mortalgnomo
>>178061164

plain human human . more on this topic , Oda confirmed that if a human ate choppers fruit will be a normal guy who cant swim with no tranformation xD

Jongoe

I still heavily dislike the Nika stuff, but damn the oldschool cartoon fighting style is just so entertaining and fun.

Francesca

I gotta admit, at first I had some doubts about Gear 5 but not because it’s goofy or cartoonish. What really threw me off was the whole idea of predestination. It felt like it took away from Luffy’s natural spontaneity. But then I realized he’s not some reincarnation of Nika or anything, he awakened the fruit because he’s the right person for it. His personality and strength just naturally line up with what the fruit represents. Luffy’s always been Luffy, and he always will be.

FryLord

Hearts pounding like a drum. I genuinely teared up when this aired. I had already read the chapter waaay before but at that point I had been following one piece for 20 years and i couldn't contain myself smiling 🥁 🥁 🥁

Damn , it was a long long journey to get here with you 2, but happy you made it this far. I wonder what place One Piece takes in your personal overall rankings as someone who "just started" 2-3years ago. I'm turn 40 in ~1 month but One Piece was part of my life since teenage years (I think around 16~17yo) obviously my perspective is different I assume
