The condition Marie has is called 'Kleptomania'. It's a disorder that makes the person compulsively steal. Sometimes it's known by the person what they're doing. Sometimes they are unaware until they find the stolen items later. It's not necessarily shoplifting, it could be a friend around your house stealing something. It doesn't always have to be big, or valuable, it could be stealing a penny or a pen or something small.
