Hey everyone, it would seem that a lot of things need to be said.

Before that: Radiant just had a new game update. Go get it here.

First and foremost, I am so sorry for my silence over the last couple of months. For those of you who aren't a member of, or haven't checked our Discord server... you will be completely out of the loop. If you haven't joined us there already, I do recommend doing so now. But for those who prefer communication here: the "quick version" of what was said there is that not long after I recovered from being ill, the person who has lived with me for four years... someone who I cared greatly about and considered family, unfortunately, passed away. She was old, 76, but it was still quite unexpected. I always told her how healthy and spritely she seemed for her age... but things took a very quick nosedive due to an infection and before I knew it, she was gone.

This is the fifth person that I love who has died in three years. It has been a hell of a ride... and after losing Dale... for the first time in years I am alone. I want to be quite clear in explaining that this affected me greatly. I am a pretty tough person, but when this happened... I needed a break. Not from working per se, but from everything. People, responsibility, my family... I pretty much closed the door to my brain and thought, "I'll feel better tomorrow," but it took a lot longer than I expected for me to feel mentally well enough to reach out to people about what I was going through. So yeah, for the last three months I've been doing not much of anything at all. Shooting the shit, video games, anything to distract myself.

We all need breaks sometimes, and mine just happened to come at a bad time. I had just recovered from an illness and needed to release the next Radiant update like I told you guys I would. I didn't handle the pressure of that well, either. My one and only regret is not at least saying, "Hey guys, I need a break and will be back as soon as I can." This is a mistake I will never make again. I am a slow learner, but once my mind is set on something I have a pretty easy time following through. So I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for not giving you guys a heads up. I was just in a state of mind where... everything be damned.

Now onto the title of this thread. Please let me make something abundantly clear, here...

Radiant is literally my entire life. It might sound silly to some of you, but this game is my greatest accomplishment and my sole passion in life. I fucking love this story, this world, its characters, and the community surrounding it (that includes all of you). Nothing is more important to me, and the game will absolutely never be abandoned. I noticed we received that tag on certain sites, despite it only being a few months since our last update... but please be aware I have no control of that. It's flat out untrue, and never will be true. This game means everything to me.

I just wanted to say that, and check in with you all, and also let you know that Radiant's next update is here. Keep in mind, this is a continuation of Chapter 5 and not a "full chapter," but Alorth and I have agreed on a hard deadline for Chapter 6 as well: that deadline is March 23rd. I plan to have Radiant Ch6 finished and ready to go in February. I also plan to reach Chapter 10 in 2024. No more distractions and no more delays. Thanks for hearing me out, I love you guys.

And to those of you who stick around no matter what, I appreciate you greatly.

SirD.

How long until android port is available?

Rex21

Hey the slow progress is fine and expected and I know how you feel in the last 3 years I've lost my two grandpas a grandmother a great grand ma, due to some family drama may as well have lost another grand ma because of her manipulating kids and almost lost my mom because of a stroke we have all ben there so take your time with healing emotionally and mentally. You make visually stunning work with a intriguing story line, so you take care of yourself before anything else.

Porter is asleep, but he was able to get most of it done last night. Soon as he wakes up it'll be done.

RK Studios

So sorry to hear about your losses, and thank you!

Rex21

Thank you loss is unfortunately a part of life and it may hit hard or not that much all you can do is cope and keep going.

Awesome, this is a great game/story and can't wait to continue it. Keep up the great work.

Your personal life is what's most important, take all the time you need. I think too many creators burn themselves out meeting deadlines and end up loosing the passion that got them started. Just know that when your ready we will still be here. This is one of the best written VN available and well worth the wait. Keep up the good work and take care.

*when you're ready* spell check failed me on that one

Your game sucks, the beginning was great but then it turned to shit, tiny updates twice a year, no progression of the main story but instead a bunch of uninteresting side characters. You're just a scammer and milker your patrons.

Callisto

I am sure you will be able to find games more to your own tastes. Whether you will ever become a polite person with good manners, I'm not sure. But for the people around you, we can only hope. Have a good time.

Feeling the need to shut off the world and doing exactly that is something I am unfortunately familiar with. In these situations, even the simplest communication, even with those closest to us, can seem like a huge challenge that we may not be able to overcome. I always have understanding for when developers go silent for a while and never think badly of them for it. I am happy that you are continuing with Radiant and I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

Why should I be polite to a scammer?

Fury99

Just out of curiosity, if you do end up taking a break and there is nothing wrong with that especially when it comes to dealing with loss or other great calamities in life. Would it not be a bad thing to pause the subscriptions until you get fully back in the saddle?

just wake him up, i dont have money to go buy a pc rigth now😂

Good to hear that you are back at it and committed. I do understand how you felt. When I lost my son a few years ago I found out how supportive the so called family is. I wanted to let the word burn and say fuck it all. But I pushed through and and now just focus on my life.

I'm so sorry for your losses. Family and health are always priorities. Yes, we all need a break sometimes, so take all the time you need to recover. We'll be here for you when you're ready. I love this game; I'm with you on this beautiful journey until the end, RK ✊!

My man as long as you are willing to bring us a completion of this marvelous game we will remain by your side as we have been doing so far

RK Studios

I'm sorry to hear that. I never like hearing that our lack of consistency/slow updates caused someone to stop enjoying the game. That being said, the accusation of scamming is completely meritless. I have routinely, consistently told everyone that they shouldn't feel obligated to stay pledged in between updates and that they should only pledge to us what they feel the game is worth. This may be surprising but Patreon is an optional support platform, and the game is listed as an "early-access" project. This means that 1) people are well aware of the game's unfinished status... and 2) people aren't being forced/tricked into subscribing or giving us funding.

RK Studios

I am really sorry to hear about your son. Glad to hear you are doing better.

Black Anos

Take as much time as you need i only have a few people in my life that are close to me and i dont know what i would do if i lost any of them. much love for you and your creation take care of yourself

Bravo... Wonderful update. Now, i can't wait for the next update. Im sorry for your loss. I also am recovering from a severe loss. This game helped take my mind off other things for a moment in time when i needed it.

First of all I want to say that I'm sorry for your loss SirD and I'm glad that you turned out to be all right. I don't use Discord due to some personal considerations so I've been totally out of the loop and in the light of your recent illness I started worrying that something bad might have happened. So I'm really glad that you're back with us. Speaking of the game, I stumbled upon it a couple of years ago by pure chance and I've been a continuous backer of it ever since despite all the delays and other issues. However silly this may sound, the game and its story have helped me once to pull through a very tough time in my life, and I'm very grateful for that. The characters and the storytelling are just outstanding, I have nothing to compare, I've tried some other adult VNs suggested in earlier posts here and nothing comes even close. Being a tech person myself I can imagine how many hours of hard work are required to code and render every chapter, not to mention the actual script writing. Everyone who says that the author is a scammer considering the product being delivered must be totally clueless. Nobody forces you to pay, if you don't like something, please just look somewhere else! Please continue your work SirD and be sure to take your time.

M2

Sorry for you lost, my boy. Glad you're feeling better now and are back in the swing of things. 👍🏻
