Hey guys,

Fresh off of the Kyushu Cycleathon, preparing to move to Tokyo for the first time in 10 years living in Japan and complete with a brand new haircut, it's time for our monthly Patreon live hangout!

I'll be revealing what really went on behind the scenes in Kyushu, how I feel about leaving Tohoku and what's coming up in April - as well as answering your questions of course, over some sort of alcoholic beverage. (Naturally).

It'll be tomorrow evening Japan time at 22:00 and in the event you can't make it you can watch it after at the link below. If you can't make it, leave your questions below in the comments and I'll answer them on stream!

I would've watched it at work if I didn't have a meeting at that time! Noooo What's your favourite Japanese dish, like ever. My colleague asked me this and asked me to exclude Wagyu so it became more difficult😂. I opted with Yakitori or Okonomiyaki or Takoyaki as my top 3, what about you?

Eric

Heya; Do you ever cook (not including Abroad in a Pan lol), and what Japanese dish would you recommend to get a taste of Japan that can be made in the UK. Also, do ever worry that you're moving from your high quality, documentary style (longer) videos, towards something shorter and 'main stream' (no offence) which from the outside, is a little bit what it looks like the channel is leaning towards? I honestly don't mean to be condescending or negative (I have ADHD and am told sometimes I come across that way), I am just thinking constructively/ long term, because looking at the other YouTubers you are close with, obviously they have a different style (e.g. Connor/ ビデくん and all his memes), and I wonder if that's having any influence on video topic decisions/ style, because I - and I'm sure a lot of other people - really appreciate and enjoy the contrast of (sarcastic) humor and comedy in the presentation of these amazing places, foods and even ideas Japan has to offer. Specifically; your longer-form content is consistently impressive, professional, detailed, has the gravitas and quality of an experienced film maker/ cinematographer, and of course is enjoyable. I understand it's not always viable, but hopefully with the growing number of supporters on Patreon, we can all see more of your most excellent content. Not that I'm trying to blow smoke up anyone's arse ahaha To end on a positive note, I genuinely hope there is so much more to come (especially now you're moving, I wonder if that will help being more central/ near more things?) and I think we can all agree, we'll be looking forward to it! 😊

Hey Chris, What's the best service to ship your luggage from one hotel to the other in Japan? I'm currently looking at Yamato. Can they do same day or does it take a few days? Let me know what your experience was if you have used this service in the past.

Hey Christal Chris 💎 Would you ever consider making a movie about the crazy stories of アメリカ人-Pete with him starring as himself. Especially how he first came to Japan.

Rue

Hi Chris, I was curious if you'd ever seen the 1966 film Walk Don't Run. It takes place during the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics and was actually filmed on location in Japan. It also happens to be Cary Grant's final film. Being from the 1960's, there's a little bit of racial stereotyping, but I don't think anything too egregious. They actually have Japanese/Japanese American actors playing the Japanese characters, so that's a plus. The writing is quite witty and the story centers around a British man visiting Japan. I'd be interested to get your impression.

Kristen M.

I'll do my best to be there but it'll be 6am my time and I'm not a morning person lol 😆 I have more of a silly question - have you ever been on any of the military bases in Japan and if so, why? And if not, would you want to? My dad was in the Navy and we were stationed in Yokosuka from 2000-2003 (so middle and high school for me). It always felt like a different world on base! I always wished I explored more of Japan when I was there. I definitely didn't take the time to appreciate being there as a kid.

Given your recent trip to Kyushu whats the best restaurant you ate at which is no more than 20 min ride from a bullet train station?

Bonnie L

Can't watch because work. ..damn! But, you should think about doing curated tours (like YouTuber Karl Watson) it would do REALLY WELL!!

The weather chasing guy sounds interesting to follow. Japan has some pretty spectacular weather, good & bad.

Hey Chris! Love your content. I’ve just been challenged to do a cycle across South Australia on my channel. I was wondering if you had any advice production wise on this? I’ve produced short films and TV shows but this makes me nervous 🤣
