HELLO lovely people!

Today I'm sharing with you some more of my process and the old version of this piece (from last year).

💙 I already shared the thumbnail I used for this redraw, so I started working from that one.

💙 I started with the line art. I often enjoy working on a sketchy one, but the more you clean the lines the easier it is later to put on flat colors. It is also easier to see the volumes as well. If you have a clear drawing and a solid structure, it will definitely work later with colors too!

💙 After lines, I put on flat colors. I have a shortcut on Photoshop to swap easily between black and white and color to see the contrast better. I want the highest contrast on their faces, since that is the focal point.

💙 After flats, I start working on lights! I  wanted you to see how does it look with no color layer on. I basically look for occlusion shadows to bring a better volume, and the direct light (the one coming from the fireworks) to have a better readability. As I said before, we want the higher contrast on their faces, so that strong light works perfectly!

I hope you're having a lovely season! Please let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like to see something in particular for the process. Maybe I could record a speed paint for the next one :)

Thank you so much! 💙

Hey the glow up it's amazing! I love that now the fireworks are so much nearer, you almost gave all the contrast the characters needed just by changing that!
