#sundayrundown Toranaga’s strategy this episode was straight-up insane “No, Blackthorne, you’re not going home. You’re staying to sleep with my finest women. Also, here’s 600 cuckoos.” And Blackthorne? Reluctant Protestant turned political nuke. Toranaga’s lowkey cucking his enemies into submission. That “bandits” excuse? Sopranos energy like the “two black guys went that way” scene. Everyone knows, no one says. “I heard you and the Anjin are never seen apart” is just code for we all see what’s happening. Love triangle chaos Kiku: “Tell him to come again…” Mariko: Switches from “She says” to “I” with death in her eyes Me: EXCITED Then Toranaga hits: “Send him courtesans... and Mariko, you go too.” Mariko’s face: PURE INTERNAL SCREAMING Yabushige dropping “Time to write another will” like it’s Monday Gold. Mariko’s Catholic roast reaction = Emmy-worthy Ochiba’s eyes alone could burn kingdoms Tonoda? He KNOWS This show = Feudal Japan meets Shohei Ohtani and Ippei drama Secrets, seduction, politics… 10/10

#SundayRundown #Shogun FUN FACT: This is the first western show to incorporate a traditional Noh theater production. They got a professional troupe to come on board the project and create a legit play based on the backstory of Lady Ochiba; which they filmed in Japan. FUN FACT 2: They actually filmed most of the indoor scenes in Japan. Basically, whenever we're inside a castle or other lavish dwelling, that was filmed in Japan. Whenever we're outside, that was filmed in British Columbia. 😆

lol Chris with "wait is Toranaga the bad guy?"

#SundayRundown #Shogun This is a very important difference. In the book, it's quite clear that OCHIBA has an encounter with a peasant with TAIKO-like traits. They have sex, and she then kills him. Here, it's up to interpretation who the father of OCHIBA's child is.
