#sundayrundown Illyria doesn't blink. We get a lot of outright majestic Amy Acker footage, but it is usually in short, blink-free shots. "Adaptation is compromise." And, later, "Change is constant."No matter how many times I watch it. Seeing Illyria kill the entire gang in one quick move always gets to me. I see it coming and I still freak out about it. NO ANGEL SPIKE WES LORNE! STOP KILLING THEM YOU BITCH! Oh ok they're not dead. This is me every time I watch this episode lol.

#sundayrundown I'll have a novel and a half to say in the last two, and even a bit of a rant perhaps for next week but I'll keep this one short.

Confused why the end confused you guys? Illyria gave Angel a huge pep talk about all the power he is refusing to use, and "if you want to win a war, you must serve no master but your ambition" with his subsequent throwaway line to Wes after something clicked. Take it all how you will.

Illyria is cool af and it's the biggest bummer ever that the show is over and we cant get more of her

Illyria is bae. Using her to parallel Wesley and Angel was chef’s kiss. With Wesley, her drive to get back to her old world and finding out her world was destroyed was paralleled with Wesley losing Fred. That really heightens the sense of loss and how to deal with grief. Their shared tragedy creates a bonding agent where they can potentially start to grow stronger together. With Angel, they parallel Angel’s job as Wolfram & Hart CEO with Illyria’s time as God King. She makes note of conquest and power being the right of rulers, with nothing else mattering by the whims of said ruler. This paints the picture, in no uncertain terms, that CEOs are kings with vast amounts of power that can drastically affect a multitude of lives. Power and corruption will always be around and we derive meaning from fighting back against them. We don’t capitulate to them. And we certainly don’t reinforce them. One of the biggest misses of The WB shitting the bed on renewing Angel is that we miss out on fleshing out Illyria even more. She’s such an interesting character that really provides such a fascinating perspective in the Wolfram & Hart saga.

Watching people watch Illyria’s attack on Team Angel is entertaining only if you’ve seen this episode before. Rana and Spidey’s reactions were my favorite
