Doc Anime!

Ready for Reign of Superman!! 😁

Dante Sparda

Doomsday is such an OP and iconic comic book character. Seeing Superman getting beaten helplessly is hard to watch, and then him dying alongside Doomsday killing Superman is so iconic that it’s as much of a comic book canon moment as Uncle Ben dying, Batman getting his back broken by Bane, and Logan being a part of Weapon X.

#SundayRundown. Easily one of my favorite Superman movies. IMO, this is one of many examples when it comes to animation that these writers just understand Superman. I mean, it doesn’t hurt that the movie’s screenplay is written by veteran Superman writer, Peter J. Tomasi. He’s the farm boy raised by his adoptive parents and just wants to do the right thing because it’s right. I will never understand how people find Superman boring. His desire to do good, his compassion, his positive belief in everyone is what makes him compelling. He is the ultimate example that we should all strive to be. I like how this film shows why Superman matters. The comic it adapts did that in 1993. When news broke that DC planned to kill Superman back in ‘93, "The Death of Superman" received unprecedented coverage from the mainstream media. I love how this movie shows how Superman impacts the world and how his influence on humanity should never be taken for granted. This movie is also great at showing how important Lois is and why

They gotta check out some of the other Superman animated films especially the 2021 Superman & Lois show man if they watch that I’ll die happy

Nice try Spidey you need to be more convincing when you gaslight Reign of the Superman hype but I actually saw another version but it only covers the death part think it was actually called Superman Doomsday saw it on a projector with my brother on shrooms

#SundayRundown - The Death Of Superman was such a big moment back when it was releasing in 1992 that it made regular news coverage lmao. My mom who is and has never been into comics remembers it lol. The storyline's success can be partly attributed to the concept of "you don't know what you've got till it's gone," highlighting the character's significance by removing him from the narrative. There was a few of recurring characters and places from YJ that y’all forgot about. STEEL, Bilbo & his restaurant, Intergang

Fatherlord

That's not what gaslight means. People keep over and misusing it to the point of meaninglessness

BindingofNack

When I was a kid my older cousin was real upset about Superman dying and I made fun of him to find out later he was upset about Christopher Reeves dying :(

This isnt the only DC animated movie based on the death of superman. Superman Doomsday is considered the 1st DC elseworld's animated movie. Not as good as this movie but a fun watch. Kevin Smith's script for the death of superman movie had Michael Keaton's Batman giving a eulogy to Superman.

Game Dragon

The Death of Superman is a comic I read a lot as a kid. Doomsday didn't say a word. It just came and bodied literally everyone. That feeling of 'hopelessness' is what was missing from the Batman v Superman version.

Chris: they want him to be Jesus so bad!! ironically in the comics the jewish writers of superman had clark raised in a christian household and a lot of clarks inspiration to be superman was from a christian background and you get a hint of his Christian background in the Man Of Steel movie lol
