It's kinda wild so many haven't seen it, particularly given it's the ultimate Steven Spielberg movie. Particularly if you want to understand everything he did after in its proper context. I'm not one of those people who gets excessively nostalgic about old movies and remembers them as better than they were, but it's one of those that everybody should see at least once - I even made my nephew watch it when he was like 12.

You guys should watch and react to more classic films. Don't deprive yourselves of great films just because they are "old". You guys should have a classic films poll and watch at least one or two a month.

Remember the Rebels episode where the clones try to reel in a big ass sandworm? Very much a homage to this movie, down to the cheery adventure music And following up on someone’s suggestion to do more old classic films: 60s and 70s Planet of the Apes!

All time classic for a reason. There's been loads of praise about how intelligently Spielberg and his crew used their less than perfect special effects for maximum tension and impact. One example I don't think gets mentioned as much is the jump-scare with the dead body in the sunken boat. It's such a good scare on the first watch that you don't even notice how fake the dummy actually looks. Seriously, it's surprisingly sloppy work, for how well it startles you.
