At this point in the story, Keiko and Shizuru still don't know that if Yusuke intervenes and his team gets disqualified and looses, they will be hunted down and killed. That threat is real. At this point, it has been established that all the characters can get hurt or even loose when confronted by 1 or 2 strong demons. They are not invincible. If you consider that + the way everybody (the public & the rest of the teams) is against them + the organization of the Tournament is trying to make them loose any way they can... this is how you gradually up the stakes in a story, guys. It's also when the real Yu Yu Hakusho starts. Takashi rules 🤟🏻

#SundayRundown #YuYuHakusho I just had a thought, rewatching this episode for the umpteenth time. It's a testament to the writing in general, and fight-staging specifically, that Kurama is such a dynamic and interesting combatant, when, if you think about it, almost all his fights boil down to "wait for it...wait for it...wait for i-SURPRISE PLANT!" 😆
