#SundayRundown Bleach TYBW “There is only you. Be your own God” - Mayuri’s Life philosophy. This is a milestone as the 400th Ep of the series and what better way to celebrate it by focusing on none other than the mad scientist born to be a villain but forced to be a corrupted official & MVP of this War: Mayuri Kurotsuchi Kubo’s favorite character (as he’s always being one step ahead even when it doesn’t seem like it on the surface in poetic fashion) and a callback to Ep 44 when we saw the reveal of the 1st Bankai, now reborn into variant version- The Altered/Modified Bankai: Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō: Matai Fukuin Shōtai (Golden Leg-Cutting: Demonic Recumbent Womb Covering Seal Symptomatic Body) This takes the form of an enormous, heavyset, purple-skinned baby dressed in a golden loincloth and with golden fabric covering its pectorals. It has a misshapen head with completely white eyes, and its belly has a large vertical incision line in the center, on either side of which are the two parts forming the kanji for "Prostrate/Bend Down" The baby rests on a large pile of thick, visibly veined umbilical cords from which 2 branches grow on either side of the baby's head, each holding up a dangling, box-shaped lantern. In addition, a purple mist seeps along the ground that resembles the poison released by the Bankai's normal form. It can create modified versions of Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō (Surface Nerves) with the information and data Mayuri sends to it; this allows it to counter specific abilities of Mayuri's opponents. This modified Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō also shines with a golden light. The 70,000 layers of skin can also be a metaphor for Bleach’s foreshadowing. As for Pernida that’s revealed to be the Soul Kings left arm: It’s holy schrift is ‘C’ which stands for the ability ‘The Compulsory’ It can send his own nerves into the enemy's body and forcibly control their movements. Pernida's holy schrift was not a power given to him by Yhwach, but was chosen based on an ability that Pernida originally possessed. It was previously showcased back in the flashback beginning of EP 24 when Ichibe took away and sealed Yhwach’s Almighty eyes.

It enables high-speed movement by riding on the flow of spirit particles created under their feet. Mayuri Kurotsuchi applies the mechanism of Hienkyaku by installing a generator in his boots, he can collect surrounding spirit particles, enabling him to gather and solidify the spirit particles around him to move at similar speeds. Similar techniques include Soul Reaper's ‘Shunpo’ (‘Flash Steps’) and Arrancar's ‘Sonído’ (‘Sound Reverberating Turn’). #SundayRundown Love that mayuri solos a pretty op royal guard here. I think mayuri serves as a great representation of how the soul reapers should be victory at any cost. While his peers claim to fight for a nobler cause and remember old man Yama probably knew what mayuri was doing all this time. Remember in the beginning of arc where mayuri expunges souls in the soul society to offset the losses in hueco mundo. Yama tells him permission would've been granted if he only asked. Mayuri true mvp of the arc would any of you pegged him as the mvp.

I love the callback to Mayuri’s extendo arm which he used back in Soul Society when he tried to capture Orihime, “Did I give you permission to run away?” And the guy is truly a sadist giving his inventions the ability to feel pain like that umbrella and that weird human worm bomb which looks like something straight out of Uzumaki which is an insane world I can imagine someone like Mayuri fitting right in.

#SundayRundown #BLEACH This is my first episode. I'm starting here because I love The Beatles. What's the black guy's name? (It's been so long since you recorded this, you might not get that. Oh well! 😆) Two things to clarify, in case you've forgotten. 1. In the aftermath of the first invasion (after Yamamoto's death), when everyone was doing training and preparing for the next fight, Kurotsuchi locked himself and Nemu in his private lab. 3rd seat of Squad 12, Akon, had secretly installed a camera in there, and used it to watch Kurotsuchi conducting some kind of ungodly experiment. Now we see what that experiment was: Altering his bankai into what it is now. It's not that, in this battle, he decided to change it from the caterpillar. It's that the caterpillar is no longer. The "big purple buddha baby" is now the bankai, from which a variant can be born based on battle data. 2. When Ichibei had that meeting with Yhwach, and they had that staring contest, Ichibei was using the Soul King's left arm, but he sacrificed it in order to seal away the Quincy king's eyes. Now we see that, not only did El Baja recover from this, but he managed to subjugate that left arm as well. Oh, one more thing, because this is STILL misunderstood. Mayuri Kurotsuchi is Kubo's favorite character TO DRAW. He loves all the design elements that go into him, which is why he cosplayed as him and constantly gives him new looks. Like most manga-ka, however, his favorite character overall is the main one. Ichigo in this case.

In that meeting Ichibe seal the almighty using the soul king's left arm. That was 1000 years ago prior to the first quincy invasion in Soul Society. I posted a link of the episode with the timestamp when the Soul King's Left Arm show up (0:59) https://youtu.be/uP66k1xrisg?t=59 This is also the reason why Yhwach lost to Yamamoto, his trump card was sealed prior to their fight. P.S. This information was not in the manga, or at least I don't remember that scene being in the manga.

Mayuri's hate for Quincies doesn't make him fear them at all especially ever since he lost to Uryu lol. Eventho this is A Royal Guard I mind you, it's just another Tuesday for him. Kubo loves him so much he doesn't give Mayuri any power boost, but instead you know, for the sake of research and science he can win. His past a mystery as well since Urahara takes interest in him even in earlier days makes u think what the hell did he do in the Living World grants him to live again in Soul Society.

He/him (Maybe let Suraj read this time idk) They're eating Pernida... And then they're going to eat me... OH MY GAWWWWD!! Honestly, we are incredibly lucky that Kubo became a mangaka instead of a supervillain because we will all be fucked. The amount of ridiculously convoluted and messed up ideas that he comes up with should be in contempt of international law, I will never understand how his mind works. All the hype for Kenny to get slumped so quickly was diabolical from him too, there was added emphasis on him being kept alive by Ukitake as well. It should also be noted because even the anime didn't cover this, in the manga volumes, Kubo added drawings which revealed that Hanataro had become paralysed by Mayuri's shikai(you don't even see him in the episode), and he had narrowly avoided being consumed by the nerve endings through sheer luck. Furthermore, Mayuri's new bankai was first hinted at during the time when Akon observed what he was producing in his secret lab. If you recall correctly, Mayuri was heard saying "it will give birth to a new Ashisogi Jizo", and we are seeing that come to fruition in this episode. The music that was also heard during the hand reveal was a heavy metal remix of torn apart from the original series, it sounds almost unrecognizable and is probably my favourite track from the TYBW. Not to mention that out of all the title drops, this one was easily the most unhinged, you guys questioned it at the start and burst out laughing when it appeared, genuinely hilarious reaction all around. Everyone was completely disgusted throughout this episode, with the exception of Pat unsurprisingly. Next episode is probably the one I have been anticipating the most out of the TYBW adaptation, Shunsui has been handed the baton and you already know how this race ends. We will be witnessing peak next week.

After we get through with this cour I think it would be a neat idea to stream the 3 episodes of Burn The Witch to post for Patreons as it takes place in the Bleach universe and was a one shot Kubo wrote which he plans to continue in the future!

#Sunday Rundown Mitsukase Tokaba: Kokusa no Harawata; AKA Unravel Three Hanks: Bowels of Black Sand. That was the name of the attack that Senjumaru of Squad Zero used in her Bankai to trap Pernida. In the trap he's stuck inside a pit of black sand and no matter how many times he shoots his nerves the sand peels away and he can't get a grip before he's swallowed whole by the sand pit. In this fight no matter how many times Pernida shoots his nerves at the big baby the skin just peel away and he can't get a grip before he's swallowed whole by the baby. And a not unrelated fun fact Mayuri translates to Black Sand.

You know, i appreciate Mayuri shouting "Wait Kenpachi!!" as Kenpachi charged Pernida the first time. I'm sure he wouldn't have entirely minded if he died right there, but he TRIED to warn him. A lowkey kinda "wholesome" Mayuri moment? Very rare. While we're on the subject of Mayuri and his morality - never forget he massacred 28k~ people at the start of the arc to maintain the balance of the world without even informing Yama, who said he'd have given permission for it if he did ask anyway. The Soul Society in general are.....not above doing "evil" things for the "greater good" (in Mayuri's case it's sometimes not even for the greater good, he's just evil lmao), which has been a common thing throughout the series.

[Tidbits] - No, it's an "Altered Bankai" so now his Bankai is that Purple Baby, which can birth any new baby given the data he has. - Mayuri OG Bankai Ashisogijizo name means: Leg Severing Guardian of Children, which leads to some interesting theories that I can't speak of quite yet - The voice actor for Pernida wanted people to pay mind to the change in his voice, he states: “At the beginning of the episode, he has a baby voice. Then he starts spelling words, and with every passing minute, his voice deepens as he ages more and more" - As we all know, Mayuri is a true scientist through and through and loves it in the way Kenpachi loves battle, so witnessing a foe who can evolve is an unbelievable dream come true. It’s such a high for Mayuri that he’s acting like a beast or fiend, expressing the same behavior that he often spoke down on. Nemu even says she hopes he is himself (As said by Mr.Tommo, “Mayuri is losing himself, growing closer to danger, and like Icarus flying too close to the sun” which is fitting given the whole sun outfit he was sporting) - Sidenote: It’s crazy that Mayuri just casually has tools that seem to be made out of people or souls

#Sundayrundown #Bleach So gonna hope this one makes it to the rundown. I know you guys are Kenny stans but this is a point in the story that Kubo was trying to emphasize that even powerful characters like Kenny can have a bad match-up. A melee fighter wil not do well against a character that basically has hacks, like if Kenny was not with Mayuri that would have been it for him. Also imagine if Kenny tried to fight someone like Barragan in the Arrancar saga, he could have been turned to skeletol dust. Get ready for more suprises with this theme going on and keep that in mind that if a character faces another with powers that can easily counter or outplay the other then power levels don't play as much a factor anymore, tho there are a few exceptions. Also at this point in the manga there were quite a few fans that were getting more dissapointed with the story since it was were a lot of scenes are character arcs got rushed and not even fleshed out. Since Kubo was not well both mentally and physically he seemed to be in the mindset of getting the story finished as quickly as possible with many things getting cut or ignored which left many fans sad and dissapointed. Someone correct me if I am wrong but at this point in the manga I think they had announced how many chapters were left and it was so little chapters and when thinking about what was left of the stroy and possible fights you could tell by reading that many scenes were gonna be awesome ideas and revelations with so little time to be fleshed out and shown. So its very interesting that the Warwelt arc is dissapointing in the manga to many but really loved in the anime version. So you can imagine the excitement for cour 4 being mostly anime original to manga fans.

As someone who was there when the end of Bleach was announced, it wasn't announced this early how many chapters were left. It was announced like 5 chapters before it ended lol, which took everytone by surprise because there was still a lot lett. But even at this point in the manga, before the end was officially announced, people thought it was rushing through things a bit, yeah. Cour 4 is gonna expand on the series a LOT. There's only like 20~ chapters left of the arc by the time Cour 3 is done and most Cours adapted roughly triple that lol.

Pernida and Giselle are perfect examples of why someone like Mayuri is allowed to be a captain of the Gotei 13. Perhaps the other captains justify hi experiments with Hollows and Quincys as the lesser of 2 evils. Nevertheless, I've always felt that Mayuri & Uryu's storyline was never fully developed. For example, Mayuri blowing up his subordinates in front of Orihime and Uryu was never mentioned or addressed in any form ever again. Uryu was willing to lose his Quincy powers just for a chance to kill Mayuri. He hated his guts. But after Mayuri escaped... he never mentioned it again. He could've tried to get revenge, expose Mayuri's crimes or at least talk about it with Orihime or Ichigo. Considering the amount of time that the anime had dedicated to Uryu's grandfather... it never made sense to me that he just let it go... On top of that, if Mayuri had been officially pardoned by the Soul Society then Uryu joining the Quincys would've felt a bit more justified in this arc. Also, a rematch to the death between both of them would've been hyped AF.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if after seeing the Szayel fight, he realized he only got it easy because Mayuri underestimated him. He knows Mayuri is too much of a problem to take a chance facing him before he achieves his final goals.

Yeah but... right after Aizen left to Hueco Mundo, Uryu and the gang stayed for a while in the Soul Society. At that point in the story, Uryu knew shinigamis like Rukia, Yoruichi or even Nemu. Ichigo was friends with Renji, Ikkaku and a few more. They were all in good terms. Not addressing Mayuri's behaviour/crimes in that moment or ever again seems out of character. Uryu didn't hesitate to go rescue Rukia or Orihime, no matter how dangerous could be. He even fought Ulquiorra and then tried to stop Hollow Ichigo from going too far... I think Kubo tried to pull off an Orochimaru with Mayuri. However, the difference between them is that Orochimaru never went back to live in Konoha as if nothing had happened 😅

Here's a scary thought... Mayuri mentioned in the anime that he had "studied" 2661 Quincies. When Uryu's mother died his grandpa wrote about Auswahlen in his diary. Masaki had already died 6 moths prior to that. Uryu had mentioned once that after the massacre of 200 years ago, the Quincy line had been closely monitored by the Soul Society. So... what if both women had been identified as Quincis and Mayuri had dissected both of them after their deaths? 😱 The fact that they had lost their Quincy power before dying would be reason enough for Mayuri to investigate...
