SBS Corner fun fact for this week: the meat eating fat guy(Oda’s description) from Shanks crew in Luffy’s Flashback is named Lucky Roux and he’s the cook on Shanks’ ship. Shanks’ first mate, who was also in that flashback and was constantly smoking a long cigarette, is named Benn Beckman. Yasopp of course is the Sharpshooter of their crew

#SundayRundown #OnePiece YES! YOU GUYS GET IT! I mean, at the end of the day, it doesn't REALLY surprise me, since Oda has always been good at characterization and working themes into the plot in a very obvious way, but that's why it's disheartening to see lots of people these days saying everything from "Usopp is a useless character who did absolutely nothing until [REDACTED]." to "You can skip Syrup Village 'cause nothing important happens at all." OR EVEN "One Piece actually sucks and nothing is good for the first 200 episodes." ...Bruh. 🤨 The entire point of Usopp is that he is a normie (EH?😏) among gods, and has to prove himself in his own way despite being outshined in power. And he does just that! Suraj is right about the live-action. While Jacob Romero does a great job with his acting, he is given NONE of the character moments to chew on that are originally part of the story. When people say live-action Usopp is better, and when asked why, their response is "He's less annoying." I'm like "Ah. So you actually don't remember anything that happened in his arc." I understand that, for some who haven't gone back to the earlier episodes, and are now past the thousand threshold, they're gonna' forget. That is no excuse for claiming "nothing happens" in those earlier episodes, or that Usopp didn't accomplish anything. Sillies.

Maybe you didnt know, but oda was so impressed by him as Jango that he made the swan character with him in mind to voice it and because of that he gave him thighs too lol

For some reason i remember this arc being much longer and much more boring, i was looking at netflix and seeing there arent even that many episodes left and they are the episodes i remembered being the better episodes in this arc, i forgot how funny this arc was

This arc is probably the weakest one in East Blue, so i'm glad you guys are seemingly enjoying it this much lol. Bodes well for future arcs. Also big agree with Suraj re: Live Action Usopp. They did him dirty in the LA imo, he's by far the worst adapted of the East Blue crew. Hopefully they give him his due moments in Season 2.

One of the biggest mistakes of the Live Action was having Usopp not do shit during this arc. He fires off maybe one shot total with his slingshot and it doesn't even do anything. Live Action Usopp is closer to the "useless" version of Usopp in those people's heads than the anime/manga version of him honestly lol, so i'm always baffled whenever i see someone say LA Usopp is better because he's nowhere even close to the source material version of him, they did him a bit dirty in his own arc.

luffy dub voice is the worst, why would you want them to experience so many great moments with that voice loll. the subs being small is not a good reason for them to ruin their first experience with this show, you've already seen it.

i think its cuz the actor that plays usopp in the LA is very charismatic and good looking, but his character in the manga/anime has a lot more depth i agree.

idk ill take your word for it i haven't watched the show other then some random clips and episodes mainly because i already know everything that happens up to a certain point due to having plenty of friends who watched it while we were growing up. so i cant confirm or deny if dub is better or worse. But that being said people hardcore bitched and moaned saying the same exact thing about Naruto the literal entire time the normies watched it begging them to switch to the sub claiming its better and/or simply because they are purists and only want the original language and/or want them to see it the way THEY saw it wether it be for nostalgia's sake and/or simply purism. Even though Naruto dub is unarguably fucking great and in most regards more emotional harder hitting and just simply better then the sub. its happened with plenty of other shows and movies too. Fans beings Purists is also not a good reason to ruin their first experience with a show but ya know, Purists be purists.

No way. One Piece original japanese dub is miles better than english dub. You won't get the same of those quirky voices, laughs and noises character makes in dub. It's just not the same. Eg: who tf watches Breaking Bad in their own native language?! I for sure don't want to. Original dub will always be better.

Ain't no way you think Colleen Clinkenbeard as Luffy is the "worst" 🙄. They can stick with since I can still watch Blind Wave watch the dub. There's no need for the slander when the Funimation dub cast is phenomenal! 😤
